I'm looking at getting an Electra Glide Classic, or maybe Ultra when some bonus money "hopefully" comes in. I have to say that I've done a few 390 mile days on my Softail with the stock seat and, to be honest, the comfort there was not a problem for me. My bigger problem was some soreness in my upper back and throttle hand. I "think" both of these problems are due to the wind in my chest on account of my not having a windshield.
However, as has been said by others, my wife REALLY wants that wrap around back rest and high seat you get on the big touring bikes. That's a problem I can't fix on my Softail (without making it look odd, that is).
wrap around seat , stereo, cruise control....space to carry rain gear ,camera and whatever.... once hitched , kinda nice to have the luxuries , now that said, I'd like to have a little bike like a heritage or softail to jet around when solo, but only as a 2nd bike
