Removing bolts on struts.....

How in the heck does one remove the bolts on a Harley strut to attach saddlebags/easy brackets. Do you need special HD tools? Thanks.

A T45 Torx head ought to do it, if it's the same as the Sporty.

Read the other threads about impact wrenches, stripped Torx heads, and replacement screws.

Mine have been torx head and either have a fixed nut on the inside of the fender or a nut you can get a back up on. If you don't have a set, get a set of torx heads that will fit your ratchet and a knuckle joint.

and once you get them off replace them with allen-head socket screws...torx bites!

Both of my bikes have a nut, I think it was a 9/16th, and I used an open end wrench on it. The head of the bolt is a 7/32nd allen. Now that's on 02 and 05 Dynas. Good luck.

be sure to get a good set of torx and you will be fine. Additionally, you may consider replacing the existing bolts with stainless steel. They are easy to find at your local ACE hardware stores!
