Default FYI ... scamming....

I posted saddlebags on craigslist last week. This character seems to be phishing. Here's the response to my posting:

Hello,

Thanks for the quick response... Am satisfied with the price and
condition of the item. I will like to make an outright purchase of the
item.I am out of town on a business trip and i dont know when i will
be back, so i will like to proceed in issuing out a certified check to
you direct from my Bank and upon the confirmation and clearance of
payment at your own Bank my mover will come for the pick-up at your
location and then deliver it to my place. So i would appreciate if you
can get back to me with your full name, address, zip code and phone
number so that payment can be mail out ontime asap. let me read from
you today.

Warm Regards.

It's gettin worse lately. I don't trust anybody. I had a snowmobile on Craigslist a while back, and the number of scam artists disgusted me. A world full of dirtbags anymore.

I have tried to sell 3 bikes on ebay and craigslist over the last 6 months. Same thing everytime. It was getting to where I was getting 2 or 3 of those emails for every real question that was asked. Plus, I found one of my Road Kings on Chicago Craigslist for $4,000. The guy stole my pics and was trying to scam everyone else with it.

The best one was when the guy said he lived in some far off country (I don't remember where) and wanted to know if he could have my license plate since I didn't need it anymore. I responded back and told him I would sell him my license plate for $14,500 and I would even throw in a free Road King.

You gotta watch these guys.

I was not selling a bike or parts for a bike. I was selling my "Albacore" a small racing sail boat when a guy from over the pond was trying the same thing asking some serious infomation so he can send his movers to get the boat. Then I was contacted by one of the Albacore member and ask if I sold the boat and if so why is the guy you bought it is now selling it. People don't want to work for their money and things they like anymore. I guess it's easier to screw your fellow americans or other people to get what you want out of life.

The guy is definitely trying to scam you.

I have a lot of experience buying and selling online. I have over 7000 positive feedbacks on eBay. I bought my bike on eBay and I’ve bought / sold numerous things on craigslist as well. I used to have a lot of faith in people and trusted them. Not anymore. I never take personal checks or cashiers checks from anyone. If I sell something on eBay the buyer must pay via PayPal or Google Checkout, no exceptions. If I sell something on craigslist the buyer must pay cash, no exceptions. Bottom line – never take a check.
