No more Screaming Eagle II?
I just heard about this over the weekend and was wondering what was up. I looked for a thread on this but didn't find one.
I heard this from another biker not from the dealer. Therefore, I don't know how reliable this is. He also said that the dealerships could not sell any of their current stock. That they had to send everything back to the factory.
The noise issue is becoming a really big one, and all the manufacturers fear for the industry.
HD is taking the leader position on the noise issue...........and they are asking their dealers to "sell quiet" when it comes to aftermarket exhaust. The noise issue is not just Harley, but all manufacturers. I saw a recent article in "Dealer News", a motorcycle dealer publication that promotes the lower db levels, and how to discuss it with the customer.

As EPA's tentacles spread, and they begin to target individual owners of "harley sounding" harleys, I'm sure that the customer-friendly MOCO will help keep the boogy man away from your bike by offering to tone its non-compliant exhaust emmissions and noise down for you - for a fee, of course.
Hey, win/win - for them. You (on the other hand) will probably not like how your newly outfitted, "environmentally friendly" V-twin performs, not to mention that "light" feeling in your wallet.
I doubt that BMW or any of the other well known metric manufacturers are too worried about EPA. They already meet the regs, and they do it while offering a bike whose power plant still performs!
LIfes such a bitch!

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Ordered Vance & Hines big shot duels and the dealer had me sign a waiver that the pipes are not street legal and they will not install them.
So this last weekend I installed the pipes myself and couldnot be happier with them.
