Default No more Screaming Eagle II?

Is it true that Harley has discontinued all of it's Screaming Eagle II parts due to EPA regulations?

I just heard about this over the weekend and was wondering what was up. I looked for a thread on this but didn't find one.

I was told that as of last Wednesday, you couldn't get any of the SE II stuff. Like the SE II 208 cams or any of the "crossed-flagged", "for off-road use only" stuff.

I heard this from another biker not from the dealer. Therefore, I don't know how reliable this is. He also said that the dealerships could not sell any of their current stock. That they had to send everything back to the factory.

HD is taking the leader position on the noise issue...........and they are asking their dealers to "sell quiet" when it comes to aftermarket exhaust. The noise issue is not just Harley, but all manufacturers. I saw a recent article in "Dealer News", a motorcycle dealer publication that promotes the lower db levels, and how to discuss it with the customer.
The noise issue is becoming a really big one, and all the manufacturers fear for the industry.

Just checked the HD parts site.

SEII slipons are no longer listed. They were there last week, but not now.

Its a stretch stating that HD is "taking the leadership position on the noise issue". I think not! By both actions and attitudes of MOCO dealers and Harley owners they have reacted to loud pipes and exhaust emmissions with no more than a wink and a nod up until lately. Why the sudden interest by the MOCO on exhaust noise? Simple...money (as always). They don't want the EPA taking any of it (from them) for non-compliance and they want to continue manufacturing/selling motorcycles far into the future.

As EPA's tentacles spread, and they begin to target individual owners of "harley sounding" harleys, I'm sure that the customer-friendly MOCO will help keep the boogy man away from your bike by offering to tone its non-compliant exhaust emmissions and noise down for you - for a fee, of course.
Hey, win/win - for them. You (on the other hand) will probably not like how your newly outfitted, "environmentally friendly" V-twin performs, not to mention that "light" feeling in your wallet.

I doubt that BMW or any of the other well known metric manufacturers are too worried about EPA. They already meet the regs, and they do it while offering a bike whose power plant still performs!

LIfes such a bitch!

I run an 02 FLHTCI with stage one breather, PCIII, and stock slipons with one baffle drilled out. (There are 3 baffles in each slipon) I have a nice low rumble and have plenty of power.

My dealer's parts dept. said that they were going to be discontinuing
all HD mufflers and such and would only be selling aftermarket.

Went to my dealer last week and cannot get the Screaming Eagle mufflers.
Ordered Vance & Hines big shot duels and the dealer had me sign a waiver that the pipes are not street legal and they will not install them.
So this last weekend I installed the pipes myself and couldnot be happier with them.
