Wearing a Micky mouse jacket, a Harley vest, a Hog , Christian, Jewish Muslim or Hindu "patch" is the free born right of anyone. If you replicated their particular club patch, with the intent to misrepresent yourself, well, I could understand, but using violence to stop anyone wearing insignia of their own choice is wrong. And illegal.

Look at it this way, if you had a white road king and you dressed like a cop what would happen?
There are good reasons why impersonating a police officer is illegal. While you might get into a bit of trouble, the cops won't beat you to death, burn your house and kill your family.

To all those who say they should be allowed to wear what they want....What if you wanted to wear a military uniform with a purple heart and a POW ribbon? Or a distinguished service cross...medal of valor??? If you never earned those, you'd go to prison...:
The state awards it's citizens for service and sacrafice, and that same state enacts laws to stop misuse of those awards. Here, misuse would mean you might get a small fine, and possibly referred for mental healy screening. That's about it.

Whats next? Can MC clubs decide that nobody riding a motorcycle is allowed tattoo's? A black helmet? Engineer boots? Who gives them the authority? What right have they? None. You need to start hasseling your political representatives and get these violent bullies off the road.

I just heard on the news that 8 US soldiers died in a firefight in Afghanistan yesterday. I thank your great country for it's sacrafice in the cause of freedom.

Aw Man! I wasn't going to post here until I read the above quote, but now I have to. I do the same kind of riding as Violet here, only I'm male and do most of it in the upper midwest, so I never have to concern myself with the things she mentions. However, it's apparent that there may be many more like her, and who are we to say she has unrealistic concerns? Unless we have identical circumstances, we can't. And for that reason - clubs, patches, territories and 'colors' are very troubling.

Sometimes it's better to remain silent and be thought a fool, rather than speaking and removing all doubt.

Nice try, buddy. It isn't a question about motorcycles, and as I've said numerous times I am not interested in wearing patches. I'm just letting you know that if your "club" wants to go around acting like cowboys and threatening people's lives over what they are wearing, you may end up biting off more than you can chew. As previously mentioned, the law is on the side of self defense these days and 48 states have concealed carry laws; now states are even starting to pass laws called 'stand your ground,' you may want to look into that as well.

I'll admit to being a 'newbie' on the topic of motorcycles, patches, and mickey mouse clubs, but on matters of law you are outgunned figuratively and literally.

Notably, we are talking about a ****ing religion-related jacket, and one guy even brought up a story about a knife being pulled in the middle of an intersection over a plain jeans jacket. If someone has a problem with the plain jacket I am wearing, they better approach with caution; pulling a knife at an intersection will get you LEGALLY killed.

You talk tough but you talk tough about things you have no clue of. Most patch members would ignore you if they could. You are not at the top of the food chain. Looking , listening and learning before acting is intelligent.

At the Oyster Run this year there were a VERY large number of 3 patch groups, religious, and ethnic-----I think in some parts of the US, it is tradition to be scared of having 3 patches, I notice a lot of vet groups up in the northwest with 3 patches-----I do NOT see anyone hassling a vet.

And the statement of contacting "your" COC to check what they permit is in my mind a slap in the face of any rider in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Lots of good info on this subject , thanks to all !

I have a question though , I've seen it mentioned here that just
because you don't see patch wearers doesn't mean they're not
around , ok , I've been riding for 30 years and have never seen
patches at all until recently , and they were Pennsylvania based .
My question is , is there a source you can go to and find out what
clubs are in your area ?

Might be a stupid question but I figure if you want a patch it
would be a hell of a lot easier to contact a club member with
your idea on paper before actually doing it and end up having to
rip it off of your jacket !

The problem is just not knowing which clubs are in your area !
