Default 3/8" clamps

The front footpegs on my bike are held in place with a very small "c" shaped clamp. The clamp has 2 holes to allow a specific tool to spread the clamp for removal. I do not have that tool. I went to my local supply store to find the clamps. That was easy . But the tool they had for sale did not fit the tiny clamps they sold. It also cost more than the pair of footpegs I was replacing. Any idea where I can get the proper sized tool for the job? There seems to be a lot of these clamps on the bike so I will need it again no doubt.

I will get some pics later. Never thought of that. It is a 2004 Sporty custom but I just assumed all Harleys had these clips. I found some on my brake lever and clutch lever. They hold the bolt in place. The tool I saw hooks into the two ends of the clip and spread them when you squeeze on it. Pictures would work. I'll get back to you.

You talking about a c clamp sometimes know a SB clip. Go to Harbor Freight and buy the c clamp pliers with changible (spelling) ends.

The clips you are referring to are also commonly known as "snap rings" and the tool is known as "snap ring pliers". You're correct, it is hard finding the pliers small enough to fit the tiny snap ring holes. I wound up filing down a set of tips to get them to work.

E clips are not the same thing, they are more of a semi circle, shaped like the letter E.

That would be a good idea. I was able to find another kind of ring thing that looks like it will hold, but I am not above resorting to a good old nut and bolt. just found this picture on google:

The middle one is the one I have on the bike, the one on the right is the alternate one I found.
