I've been trying to stop an oil drip from the primary case on my 07 FXSTC for 2yrs now....I put the case on a trued marble table and it rocks like a chair!!!!!
The gasket surface on the case is concaved and it has "nubs" on the dogs where the screws go....WTF....The gasket is so thin that the nubs were hitting the inner primary case and leaving a gap....I sanded down the nubs and put the case back on with permatex forma gasket and a new HD gasket and the freakin' thing still drips !!!!.......Now....why is it concaved? Why the nubs? and finally where the hell was HD'S quality control ? Any thoughts?

Using a warped cover is not helping anything.
You might be able to sand it flat.Place some double back tape on a flat surface like a surface plate,etc-.then put some sand paper on the tape and sand the cover in a figure 8 motion.
Or replace the cover.
Time for a new cover. I would then check it at the stealer, to make sure it's flat. I had to replace mine (due to someone running into me) when the bike was 5 months old, never had a problem.
It's probably a bit late now but wasn't the bike under warranty 2yrs ago? You still might try contacting HD.
You are right....warranties off...but it was junk to begin with....maybe the dealer will understand this....anyways....here goes.....calling the dealer.
