Thank you everyone for the responses. I really aappreciate it. For those who ask about riding experience I have plenty of miles and stories to go with them through my life! As for those who ask about a conversion, I stated transition, not conversion. Bought the bike with a 6 speed. Bike feels great 2500 thru 3000 while crusing. Just felt like I was either Lugging through the slower corners or downshifting and feeling too high. Guess its slower or faster on the tight ones somethings gotta give! thanks again guys for responding! By the way the pacific coast hwy (1) is a mess if anyone is planning a ride. Rode from Cambria to monterey today and it was challenging to say the least! Winds were crazy and the road was down to one lane in 4 spots, Gravel in one section!

I guess everyone has a different feel for what lugging a motor is, because i cruise in 5th gear all day long at 65 mph.Typically do not use 6th gear until i start getting up near 70+. I run a 2008 Dyna super glide. 55 MPH in 6th gear in my humble opinion is lugging the engine somewhat, its just not freed up in 6th gear at 55 mph.The TC-96 is a stroked motor and in my opinion should be ran at a little higher RPM.I know to many folks it feels kinda cool running slow in a high gear, sorta like riding on a bubble.......But its HELL on rods, piston skirts, etc.

I've only been riding for about a month now, but on my '10 Fat Bob I cruise up to 65 mph in 5th gear as well. I can push it to 70 in 5th but that's about the limit. IMO, shifting to 6th at 55 feels "clunky" and is in fact lugging the engine. I was told by some more experienced riders that if you follow the acceleration guidance in the owners manual, you're lugging it all day long and I've found that to be true. JMHO

If you are running 6 gear 55 your not getting very much oil pressure to the bearings.
