so before I owned my bike I rarely sped, my friends called me a grandpa driver. So now that my fat bob is my only ride it seems my hand likes to hold a consistent 75-80 on the freeway where as my foot was comfortable at 70 tops.
I blame the feeling of openness, cause even at 80 I want more
Just a random thought that goes through my brain every morning on my way to work
Every vehicle seems to have a highway sweet spot. 75-80 on a Harley feels good, but more than that, you're getting close to the limit of what the bike can do - it feels like it's trying to hard. My car settles in nicely at 110-115 ... speeds my bike couldn't touch.
Bike's have a sweet spot , it's different on everyone but it's there . It's that certain speed were everything is happy and in tune with you , too bad it's over the legal limit most times .
Like you, I myself am very comfortable at 5 over the speed limit anytime I'm in the car. But on the bike, it's just begging me to go faster every time.

i know what you mean, except my car is good at about 80mph, but the bike is good from 45- 140mph. my bikes "sweet spot" is more of a "sweet range". at 130 it seems like its just getting started. not good for the license unless you are on the track.
still makes a good street bike though, which is no small trick.
