There are a lot of skills I don't have but I admire a lot. Welding is one of them. Oh, I weld stuff that breaks all the time here on the farm but it looks like crap. Welding is a true art.
Welding a nut on would work but I wouldn't try it.
Good luck and let us know what works. Just had to do a mig deal here. Cousin had a mower blade bolt that the head was stripped on. banged on a 14 mm socket and put a bead of weld around it and bingo, breaker bar got it off. But I had a bit more working room to do this. Sure youll make out with one of these methods.
Yes you better practice, practice, practice first before attempting the nut method or you will have a molted blob of steel welded to the pipe flange!
Starting an arc with a stick welder can be tricky for a novice.
haha, yeah, that would not be good. i picked up a bunch of nuts from lowes, gonna practice the technique until i get it down. i even have a parts bike i can practice on for a fairly close simulation of the real deal.
yeah, i figured stick welding would be more difficult, so i got a gasless MIG. seemed like less for me to screw up.
