Are these worth the money?
Does the fan have enough power to cool your engine properly?
Would an oil cooler work better than a fan kit?
Any problems?
How much does it lower the oil temperature?
Thats neat, I've never seen anything like that. I'm sure it would help some, but how much??
Also I would like to know how much of a drain it is on the charging system, if it can keep up with the draw at idle.
Don't have one but I would think it would raise hell with your right leg because of the heat it blows off the motor, seems like a decent idea in theory but it would give the battery on these bikes a workout at idle, you'd be running pretty much off the battery at idle , then at speeds the alternator would take over again , but the fan is not needed then. Couple the fan with the lighting on the bike and I would think that would be excessive draw at idle. JMHO
As far as your other question on the oil cooler, look at it this way. With the oil cooler, you would go into a stop and go situation with cooler oil so it would take longer to heat that up also.
To echo what TCSTD said...I just did the oil cooler thing on my ride. While it doesn't "cool" at idle, it does allow the bike to run cooler when not at idle, and the bike is cooler when you get to the stop light. This is what determined it for me...

I wouldn't go by your right leg it would go by your left leg. You would take off the horseshoe horn cover and horn and mount the fan kit in that location. Relocating the horn. I've never had a problem with my leg hitting the horn, so I don't think that's much of a concern. The engine is hot already. It can't blow off anymore heat then is in the engine.

That's one of the concerns.
The other concern is does it really work. Will it lower oil temper by 20+ degrees like they claim? Is the fan powerful enough to draw away that much heat from the engine?
It seems like a good idea. An oil cooler doesn't work well when you're idling. If this fan would work during idle, then that would be a solution. Without having to have an oil cooler than might lower your oil pressure.
I would love to hear with someone that has experience with this device.
Wire it through the brake light...if you start having excessive drain, you take your foot or hand off the brake. Only time you want it to run is when you are idling anyway...right? Wouldn't help for 5 mph traffic though...
OH Boy, somebodies got their thinking cap on, great idea, all you need is a relay like the starter relay, and we all know where there is a wiring plan for that....right?

Great idea mac. Now the only question in my mind is whether it will have enough power to pull enough heat away from the engine. The buells use dual fans and an oil cooler to cool the engine.
