twilight zone
Very hard. Wouldn't be much of a security system otherwise! Just stick the fob in the inside pocket of your jacket and leave it there. Stop the bike and walk away - easy!
A couple of years ago I was driving around the suburbs of Milano, and took the wrong exit from the highway, ending up in an area recently refurbished for the new expo area. Road signs had not yet been installed. I drove around for some time trying to find my way in a jumble of roundabouts and junctions, and suddenly ended up in this flat, open country area where some kind of small town stood. It was all dilapidated red brick buildings. Most roofs had caved in, some walls crumbled, empty windows... Some looked somewhat burnt. It looked like some bombed out town from WW II. I won't say it gave me the creeps, but I did feel somewhat uneasy.
There were various roads leading out of town, but no matter which one I took, after a couple of crossroads I ended up back there. And that started to feel creepy.
There was one road, which I had ignored because it was marked and led the opposite direction I needed, but after the third time I ended up in ghost town I took it and got the hell out of dodge... It got me back on the main roads and I managed to get back on my route...
I've been in that area many times after that episode, I even took what I believe is the same exit from the main roundabout that brought me to the ghost town, but never found it again.
Now, there are many obvious explanations to what happened. I have a bad direction sense, I was trusting my nav, and they have this tendency to bring you back stubbornly to the same spot if you deviate from the planned route, the roads were new and unmapped and may have varied again as work on the expo area progressed.
Yet, it was a disquieting experience all the same.
