I'll ride with my leather overpants until we get the triple digit heat. Then it comes down to me not being able to stay hydrated enough and the leather keeping too much heat close to my body.
I also have a 4 city block walk from my bike to where I work. By the time I get to the bike from work or to work from the bike, I'm dripping from sweat.
Never understood wearing chaps, though. Your butt and junk is exposed, and if you go scooting across the pavement on your ***, you won't be able to sit (and you'll probably get some of your junk ground off, too).
70! We don't consider them till the temps drop around 35 degrees!
35... wow, more of a man then me! When its that cold I'm wearing something insulated such as my First Gear winter pants. I don't think chaps work all that well when it's 35 out. I basically reserve chaps for around 50 - 70F; you know, when the temps are not that cold and not that hot.

I put leather on when it gets below 50 degrees, usually just my leather jacket. Chaps go on at about 45 degrees. I really don't give a crap what others wear but stay down wind to me in the summer when you wear leather. You probably all smell like goats. Just in case someone feels the need to lecture me about safety ---don't. I dress for my personal comfort level. I always wear jeans, gloves, and leather boots. I wear whatever clean tee shirt is on top. I wear my full face modular most days. Been riding a long time. I don't dress for the wreck, slide, or whatever. I practice not getting into the wreck, slide, or whatever by riding smart forever. Now if it would just quit raining for a few days.
