Check into 1/2 chaps. They are thicker than chaps. very ridgid. Come to your knee's. I wear them when I am on my Big Dog. helps with rocks and bugs. also the 107 power plant throws off a lot of heat. I love them!

Ya, 'useless' may not have been the word I was looking for - maybe 'nearly ineffective' would be a better description.
Sure you might lose a little hide on your knees and such, but I'd think it'd be far more comfy being able to sit while those strawberries heal up. Maybe that's just me.....

Anyone else?

Too hot around here for chaps now, I wear mine in cooler temps only.

Half chaps for me too, mostly because I hate burning my calf on the primary. They work really well for protecting your legs from road debris and those "really" hard bugs... you all know what I'm talking about.

In Britain, no bikers wear Chaps. People might think I'm an American.

I only wear them when the temps dip to the 40s or so. Can't wear them in the heat - I'm too prone to heat injury nowadays.

Under 45 degrees for me, or I'm too hot. I have "Draggin' Jeans" kevlar jeans that I wear all the time, including under the chaps when it's cold.

Like some others here I have a pair but lately, when its cold, I wear good long johns (I like Duofold) and lined Carhart jeans which are more comfy.
