Default Who wears ear plugs when they ride?

Wondering how many guys where ear plugs when they ride? Do they lower your situational aweareness to what's going on around you? If I start wearing them will just go with Samsons.

Might at least where them when in a group.

Ear plugs are nice to keep out the wind noise, and also the extreme exhaust tone. You can still hear cars coming up around you just fine.

Also check out Alpine ear plugs (i think that is what they are called).

^^ What he said.

Proper earplugs will only drown out a certain frequency but you should still be able to hear plenty around you.

I just put cigarette filters in on long trips preferably menthol. Cuts down on wind fatigue, can still hear, and they are always available.

I wear ear plugs to help prevent further hearing loss after many years without them. Between bikes, bands and guns my ears are not what they use to be. The wind noise at highway speeds will do serious hearing damage if you ride long enough and far enough.

I wear ear plugs on long rides. They don't effect my awareness any more than a radio or loud pipes.

Just once, bought a sporty with drag pipes, no baffles, 400 miles away, rode it home. Wasn't super bad with a ff, but at age 65, trying to keep the hearing I have left. Kinda funny, the faster I went, the quieter the bike seemed. I couldn't hear several cars beside me, but I'm always keeping track of the 4 wheeled elephants by sight anyway. With my half pot, that bike is way too loud for comfort, got some baffles I'll put in this winter. I don't really like wearing earplugs on a bike, after a while gets uncomfortable.

I wear them sometimes, not for the bike noise, but for the wind noise. If it's a windy day, a cold day, or I'm going on a really long ride, I wear them.

I worked around Helicopters years ago and I know the importance of hearing protection.

Here is what I use, they're cheap, disposable, and they aren't too noticeable.

I started wearing them 6 months ago and don't know how I ever rode without them. significant wind noise reduction - has really helped me.

I recommend them to all my riding bud's.
