Default Engine Guard Chaps

Ive got to say my first experience with Chilhowee has been great.
Well after having talked to people here and to others that I know that have them I ordered a set of engine guard chaps for the Springer. Haven’t had a chance to put them on yet but from what everyone has said they work great. But Ive got to tell you about this outfit I ordered them from. I ordered them a week ago Saturday then Tuesday I get an E-Mail from apologizing and saying that they are backed up and working over time but they wont be able to ship as soon as they would like but will get it to me ASAP. After hearing about some of the problems people here have had with back ordered parts I was hoping this wasn’t going to be one of those long drawn out deals, but I had to give them credit because they had got a hold of me to let me know there was a hold up. Three days later on Friday I get another E-Mail from them saying my order had been shipped priority mail. Well I got home today and theirs a package on my porch. These things look to be very well made, heavy leather and good stitching and lacing. I’ve got to say I’m really impressed by this company not only a good solid product but their customer service in getting a hold of me to let me know there would be a hold up with the order and yet still having it sitting on my door step within 10 days of when I ordered it. So from the dealings I’ve had so far I have to say if any one is looking for some thing from a custom leather shop you should check Chilhowee out they are in Grants Pass Oregon. Heres a link.

So, how do you like the chaps so far? I'm going to buy some soon enough and am curious!

To tell you the truth Ive only had to use them once so far and as far as I'm concerned they pretty much paid for them selfs that one time. Got caught in the rain it was 38 degrees and needed to go 65 miles to get were I needed to be. It started to rain so I pulled off slipped them on and away I went my lower legswere a bit damp but not bad at all and my boots were completely dry. If I wouldn't have had them Id have been soaked. and froze to bone.

Chilhowee is a great vendor. I have bought several things from him over the years and quality and service were always first rate.

As far as delivery times go, I think people today tend to forget a lot of these outfits are small 1 or 2 person shops. It doesn't take much for them to get behind, especially during peak riding season. Personally, I don't mind waiting forsomething that is well made and unique, and try to plan my ordering ahead of when I will need it if I can...

OK then, I have received my lower chaps or engine guard chaps and have a bit of a "how they fit" concern. I spent a long time yesterday trying to get them on properly. Finally I went to various websites and the fit of all the chaps I can find is very different from the set I received.
Guess tonight I"ll be taking pictures and sending them to the manufacturer.

I'll reserve comment as to WHO I ordered from until I see if I can get it reolved to my satisfaction. You can bet I'll share afterwards.

Hey JB, do you have photos of yours and how they fit that you'd be willing to IM or email me?
Thanks!
Scott
