Your bike has a flasher unit which may have packed up, however check the wiring to make sure there are no broken wires, or dirty/rusty ground connections, as those sorts of things can interfere with proper functioning.

I guess I should have said that it is the left blinker only. Right blinker works just fine. Are there two seperate units? Thanks

Swap your bulbs from right side to left side, to see if the problem goes with them. If it does your bulbs are defective.

yup, we already tried that also. when we turn the left blinker on both front and rear just stay on. it started with the front (after market) blinker bulb being out. figured the bulb change would have cured the problem but now both front and rear stay on. there was some corrison on the front connections but we cleaned it off pretty good.

And when you tried swapping bulbs it was right front to left front and right rear to left rear. In many cases the front and rear blubs are different and not interchangeable. Most fronts are 2 elements while the rear is usually a single element.
