Tech said he would recheck battery before installing it on new parts . He too was a bit concerned about what his tester was saying. The thing I don't understand, as I stated in earlier post stator ohmed ok to each winding but also homed to ground. Is this correct readings?Confused on this point!

Stator windings should not be common with ground.

Thanks Ripsaw, at least I learned more about my bike and could carry on an intelligent conversation with tech . Had it been the regulator only I could have handled that but I believe I will leave stator repair to pro's .Thanks again.

Just wanted to update on stator failure, tech broke into primary and found stator fried. Primary oil was also burned black . Oil had a very bad smell also.Replace stator and regulator. Retested battery and all is good. Just wanted to thank you guys for all the info.
