Default Corrosion Question!?

Hey anyone out there know a good way to get the corrosion off the silver edges of the cooling fins? I have an 01 duece - and bought some s100 polishing soap but to be honest - it doesn't do the job on the fins. I considered sandpaper but want to try every polish option first.

Appreciate any insight. Thanks.

I'd hit it with an SOS pad.

Thanks for the help. Right after I posted I went out to the auto parts place and got this stuff Blue Magic Polish. It worked pretty well on the fins and it polishedthe hell out ofanything else I tried it on. I'd definitely recommend this stuff.

Sanding isn't a bad option, just time consuming. Using a wooden block start with 400, then 600, 800 and finish with 1000 or 1200, sand each step enough to remove all the scatches from the previous step. After sanding, go to your polish and if done right, it will look like chrome. Keep towels handy to wipe the blood off your knuckles.

I'm not trying to be wise here, but those edges are machined to achieve that finish. It's not usually a issue for me here in the desert, but after coming back from a ride up north one time I noticed a few tiny spots on two fins just below the front pipe. I took a new carbide lathe cutting tool and scraped off the spots leaving a brilliant tooled finish just like original.

You could try using some Scotch Brite (red),the industrial type.Machine shops use this for finishing aluminum parts.
This will cut thru the corrosion and will not remove very much mat'l at all.
The Scotch Brite will leave a lite satin/polished finish.
If you want a super polished finish then you wil need to do the sand paper route like someone else said or use a buffing wheel with rouge (not reccomended).

Maybe an easier way and faster would be to scrap it with a carbide or HSS tool like the other guy said.
