Has anyone mounted a sissy bar, preferably detachable, to a 2017 softail slim? If so can you share the kit part number(s). I got an HD kit and checked the part number and supposable it fits my bike but I swear it’s a little too wide. I’ve got the detach kit hardware as well. I also found out I need a taillight relocation kit, joy. Anyone mounted the HD kit and can you share the experience?
F its '11-'17 FLS and FLSS and '11-'13 FXS models. Requires separate purchase of appropriate Docking Hardware P/N 53932-03A and Turn Signal Relocation Kit P/N 54296-11. Models equipped with Side-Mount License Plate require Relocation Kit P/N 67900127A. Models equipped with a center-mount license plate and fender-mounted reflectors require installation of additional components (sold separately): Red Reflector Kit P/N 67900223 or Amber Reflector Kit P/N 67900224.
Not detachable, but lots of us run the bowtieman (TopHandVentures) bar. It's very nice and easy to install. I don't ever see a need to detach it, when would you want to? It gives the passenger a backrest and gives you a nice place to strap a bag.
Do you need to relocate the turn signals if used in A Slim? Well, when youre not riding two up I can detach and put original seat back on for more bobber look

Don't know if you were asking me, but the one I have doesn't require moving the turn signals and won't interfere with a passenger seat. I have mine on without the passenger seat currently but can add one at will.
I'm in the same boat. I just got a 2016 FLSS and only want a passenger seat and sissy bar for when the wife wants to come along. The other 99% of the time I want the solo configuration. I also don't want to move the tail lights.

I finally got my two up seat configuration done. I got an HD seat with built in passenger seat and a detachable sissy bar through HD. I can switch between two up and solo seat in less than a minute. However the tail lights and license place need to be changed. Basically the factory tail light posts are sort of wing like and interfere with the detachable sissybar hardware. The relo kit just changes to round posts which allow for he sissy bar ahah mounting. Also since the side mounted license plate it attached to the left tail light it has to be relocate as well. If you use a nondetachable sissy bar you can avoid the tail light and license plate relo work.
