Just got my new tmax toy. I have afew questions. Since the map was preloaded I don't know what number it is but if I need to plug into the data port some day, it will show what it is , correct? What the hell is the data port used for if it has smart link? What would be the most common map# for an 07 softail custom with screaming eagle breather and vance and hines bbs pipes? Looks like several could work. This is some really neat stuff, but it will take some practice to get a handle on things. I did end up with a shitload of maps in the file menu but edited them out from the registry . Ron
The data port plugs into the scooters system. I just installed mine here is a link toa discription of theinstall. https://www.hdforums.com/m_2617409/tm.htm

How do you know the map is preloaded? Mine came with no map, picked one from the list in the Samrtlink software and uploaded it. I went with either map 394 or 401. Once you link the module to the Smarlink software it will show you which map you have. The Smarlink software can also walk you through several steps to help you make the correct or most correct selection.
Sorry guys, now that I settled down and played with the software I answered most of my questions. Amazing what can happen with you RTFM. Found the data port on the bike, so that makes sense now. I think in time I'll pick up a labtop just to be able to use all the other features in the pdf like diagnostics and stuff. Wasn't planning on it but not lugging this damn desktop out there. Shooter64 preloaded my map and it's hard to keep track, if you load maps all the time. He was busy so I didn't want to bug him. Product appears to be top notch and can hardly wait to get it on and at least get the idle set and make sure all the things that are suppose to work do. Have to wait until spring for the rest. Ron
Got it installed today and want to pass on to any 07 FXSTC owners a problem that you will run into. The basic wiring goes by the book and no problems but the actual ecm attachment is not straight forward. You will not be able to put the nuts on the studs because there is no room for socket or wrench of any kind. I could not even put the nuts on as the corners of the nuts were hitting. This is what I ended up doing. Cut the (4) 10/32" studs down to 7/8" from the inside of the plate. There is no caddy on this bike by the way. Make (4) barrel nuts out of 3/8" dia X 11/16" longaluminum bar or steel if you choose. Drill and tap all the way through for 10/32". Cut slot on one end so you can use a screwdriver to install. Add washer between barrel and ecm and only add blue loctite on the last 1/4" at the ecm. The studs need to be cut to keep the same overal height as stock or less for seat clearance inside. Stock ecm will still have more thread than needed should you want to put it back on some day. Don't go dumping on me because your bike is different. This procedure is for the no caddy, zinc plated plate that bolts to the fender, and the latest version Tmax with autotune. Ron

Yes had exactly same problem on my 2007 s/tail standard! The existing nuts would not fit either!
I got over this by "stealing" some spare (but smaller external diameter) nuts off an old ignition coil! they fit perfect and didnt require me to cut down anything so I can easily go back to stock if needed for any warranty issues.
Cannot believe how good my bike is now running as I reloaded a new map and the 4.5 software a couple of weeks ago as I had developed a backfire on decel! Messaged Randy at Zippers and he e-mailed me the upgrade straight out and a full set of instructions how to do it.
Cannot recommend these guys enough! I live in oz and its great to get such good back up being so far away!
Yup, that will work too. I only had one of those damn nuts laying around, but I guess another option would be to tap some smaller nuts out to 10/32" as a solution and use a 5/16" socket instead of the normal 3/8". Ron
