I looked through the owner's manual and couldn't find an answer, hopefully somebody can help out. Yesterday I was getting ready to take off, turned the ignition on, flipped the run button, waited for the engine light to go off and my wife decided to start talking to me. I waited probably 30 seconds before I hit the starter and it did nothing. Flipped the run switch back to stop, turned off the ignition, and tried again. It started, but now I've got this double light cycle that I don't remember happening before.
When I turn the ignition on, the security light illuminates for a few seconds and shuts off. Then when I hit the run switch, the security light will come on right after the engine light goes off. The bike will still start with the red key lit, or you can wait for maybe 10 seconds and it will eventually go off again. Maybe it always worked this way, but it just didn't look right to me. There's no flashes, nothing going on w/ the turn signals, just a solid red key that comes on for about 3 seconds w/ the ignition and again for about 10 seconds w/ the run switch. This is on an 06 Electra Glide Classic w/ factory security.
I got a little bit further on this one... kinda. I thought I'd try checking for historical TSSM codes and sure enough, I had one in there. The bad news is that the code "44" that my bike flashed isn't listed in the DIY post on the subject. Any idea what a code 44 would be?
Thanks Thorns. I followed that procedure to pull the code 44, but that code isn't listed anywhere in there. Makes me think it's a new-for-2006 code of some kind? I've got an electrical manual on order, but I'm really curious what this code means and I'm not very patient! It doesn't seem to have had any lasting effects, I'm still running just fine, but I'd like to know what caused it.

My '06 SG has been doing the same thing lately....did you ever find out what the problem was?
