I am new to the forums (first post) but have lurked for awhile........excellent community here. I have an 06' FXSTSI that I installed V&H Big Shot staggereds and Ness stage 1 big sucker. I did the installation yesterday and planned to take the bike to the shop for the HD download tomorrow (per the shops recommendation). After further research, it looks like the HD download for the 06' is questionable. I've since decided on the PCIII USB. In researching the PCIII, the installation looks straight forward and I've found a MAP on their site that fits my mods (M805-208). The shop wants $125.00 labor for the install and map plus I'd have to drop off the bike, arrange a ride etc. Is the install and download as straigh forward as the directions indicate? I am mechanically inclined but the downside to not letting the shop do the install is that they won't warranty electrical parts that they don't install. Suggestions?
I watched my wrench install the PCIII in about 10 minutes.....the map install took another 15 minutes....granted, he knew what he was doing, but the install is simply unplugging one and plugging in another....then zip tie to keep it in place
I have a FLHXI '06 with Rinehart slip-ons and ordered the PCIII through Fuelmoto. They pre-configured the unit for my setup including the Arlen Ness Big Sucker Stage I. I will be receiveing the air cleaner tomorrow from Eastern Performance. I ran the bike all-day yesterday with the stock air cleaner. It ran rich becuse the PCIII is programmmed for the Big Sucker. Better rich than LEAN, at least until tomorrow. Do the install yourself and save some cash. Its just a matter of being crafty with zip ties. I used dielectric grease inside the connectors to keep moisture/corrosion down (not necessary but I'm a wiring fanatic). I have noticed a HUGE difference after installing the PCIII. The bike runs so smooth, I'll report back after the air install . . .
Fuelmoto gets my vote for speed of sale, service and price.
if you can change a light bulb you can install the pcIII. very easy directions. 1o minutes. make sure you clean with alcohol swabs included before velcroing to the bike. mine kept falling off. but they give you extra velcro , i think for that reason.
Do it yourself. Takess 15 minutes. No way to mess up installing the PCIII. Installing the map is also easy. Select "GET" the map you wand then "SEND" the map to your bike. Once you play with it it is easy. You can try different maps even if they are not for your pipes or AC. I found many that work better than the ones that were designed for my pipes. I fanally got a dyno tune. REALLY worth the money. gained about 9 HP. Runs cooler and smoother. With the PCIII you can change pipes remap and be out the door in 30 Min. I think with the SERT you have to take it back to HD for the download. I like the PCIII and like to tinker with the maps.
