I just got my bike back from the dealer for a 1000m service. $298 CAD. Very expensive oil change and I didn't even get a complimnetary jar of vasoline. I don't know if this is normal or not but I didn't notice it before I had the service done. Anyway, I turn the key on and all the lights on the dash come on for a few seconds (this IS normal). Then, they all go out and a few seconds later the red key or security lamp comes on for a few seconds then goes out.
My bike seems to run fine. No problems at all. I thought maybe it was something to do with the DTC codes so I follwed some intructions on the board here for pulling them. When I go into the diag "S" mode, it looks like I have a b0563 code. When I look up that DTC code, it says "Battery Voltage High". I try to clear it but don't seem to be able to.
Is this normal? I thought DTC faults were indicated by the engine lamp (not the security lamp). Has my bike thrown a DTC? Is there something wrong?
I don't want to get raped again by the dealer so if anyone can help I'd sure appreciate it.
Looks like it's a historic code. Perhaps the dealer did not clear after service? I've been chasing down some DTC problems too. I found this statement for the 04 - 05 models. Perhaps it still applies on the 06? Hope this helps.
*If the turn signals flash six four way flashes shortly after key on, it indicates an error code has been logged sometime in the last 3 ignition cycles. On vehicles with TSSM, the security lamp will also light for eight seconds after the bulb check if historic codes are present.
*The security lamp will stay on if current code(s) are set. If a historic code is present, the security lamp will light for 50 ignition cycles or until the code is cleared manually.
I've tried using the procedure to clear historic codes but it doesn't seem to get rid of the problem. I just hate to have to deal with the dealer, especially since they've said "it's normal". The more I deal with these folks the less I want to deal with them.
