I've been debating about installing the Arlen Ness A/C
without a download or PC/SERT. I've been told by the
dealer sometimes it's not necessary. My milage before
has been around 30-35 MPG so I didn't think I had a
lean condition but it pops on decel. Is it possible I can
get away with this. I'm going to keep an eye on it and
if I see any trouble will do a sert.
You're looking for trouble with the slip ons PLUS an air cleaner without using some sort of fuel enrichment regardless of what the dealer tells you. After you damage the engine, he'll probably tell you that you changed the A/C and mufflers so you're on your own. Don't do it!
Ok, I agree - not worth the risk. But, WTF is up
with the milage. I pulled the plugs and their clean.
I don't push it that hard "most of the time". Anyway,
I'll take the A/C off before I ride again.
Thanks for the input.
No flash. The slip ons are the cheap Dyna Slash cut.
I just looked at the stock air filter and it needs to be
cleaned. I'll try that and see if milage improves a little.

Don't believe that you can run your bike without an ECM flash by installing just slip-ons....
Your o2 sensors are narrow band and have been going overboard attempting to compensate for the lack of back-pressure.....
Could attest to your lousy mileage.....
Do yourself a favor, get a SERT or PC and do the mods correctly.....
THe 02 sensors will correect for that in cruise with no problems. I highly doubt that you will be too lean in open loop, just keep an eye on it. If the slip on'e are very open, you may need to adjust for fuel at wot, but are most likely overfueling a tad at the bottom. The system is in open loop under acceleration and as long as you are fine there, you're not in danger. The 02's can correct up to 35-40% in closed loop, so slip ons and an air cleaner are not the dismal situation everyone above is telling you it is.
