I was going to quote Delta, but I am not fond of posts quoting lengthy posts just to agree with them... takes up too much space and creates at least 100 useless pages on this Sticky for example.
Seriously I have to agree with Delta's concept. The variety of technical aspects to this general subject area seems to beg the 'tree' concept of organizing this both for readers and searchers, and also those who are posting specific findings regarding a particular area of this great tuning system.
---my 2 cents---
Just a thought.....I wonder if it's time for a sticky devoted for only the auto tune is needed. New users coming on board would find it easier to edcuate themselves by not having to search through all these informative pages.
need some help here... i updated to latest PV firmaware Beta Version 1.0.15-1174. I am table to see my gauges when i select Data log - Gauges - and setup to view Knock F & R, MAP, ET in PV screen... When i select Start log - it does create a log file but when i try to view in Excel various parameters i have set from Data Log global signals on the PV which i used to see in Excel when open up a log tune... i dont see it anymore.. my log just shows 'time' - 'Signal' - 'Value' and not ET, Spark knock, gear etc like i used to see before i upgraded to beta version.. I did select Pro X-Y CSV 1.0 on the PV for log format instead of simple....My Data Log Theme is set to "all Gauges (default).. Am i doing something wrong ? i want to forward my logs to Jamie at FM since i still get some knocking ... Any suggestions or help... i want more info on my excel sheet so i can see exactly what rpm and throttle position the knocking occurs so i can adjust my timing at that point... i havent really used the Basic Autotune function yet...
With max knock retard set to 8, I can't hear it when any knock occurs. I can see it when I datalog, the largest amount was 4* for 4 events. It would seem to me that it would be best not to manually retard the spark on the map as it is best to run as much advance spark as the motor will tolerate. Am I correct in this assumption? Out of over 8,000 lines of data, only 83 had spark knock events, and only on the front cyl.
Here was my reasoning for perhaps a separate sticky: The main thread would open up to subdirectories like a tree.
<SNIP>
Again, just a few thoughts from an older, not totally computer illiterate user. If anyone would care to add please do. Honestly, while the autotune is still in its infancy now is the time to do this. Let's face it, the instructions we beta users have been using is 3 or 4 pages. A new sticky would be a glorified Cliff Notes.
Would like to see some input from all users.
To All:
This sounds like a wonderful idea but in reality impossible in the confines. You cannot add sub forums to a sticky.
Adding more sticky's would create a real mess as with each additional post would cause them to become out of order and have other product sticky's such as the TTS or the SEPRO sticky in the middle of the PV multiple sticky's. Hope this makes sense.
The proper way to do this would be to create an additional tuning sub forum for the PV, moving the PV sticky and adding multiple child forums to the new sub forum.
Unfortunately I am but a Moderator. The Administrator and above Managers would need to be consulted and IT asked to make the adjustments.
Here's the fall out... If it is done for the PV then it be necessary to do it for all the tuning products. I can say this would pose your greatest obstacle.
I will seek the Administrators advice.
If you look at the TTS sticky you will see that I simply edit the first post for all to start with post XYZ for current information. That may be your easiest option.
Anyone have any tips for getting a quicker start? My 103 takes 4 cranks before it will turn over. My buddies bikes seem to only require half a crank or so.
