OTF, it's pretty common to hit the 127.5 limit with good mods. Your VE profiles look similar to mine. What I've read about the CDE/EGR tuning is that you should only touch those after you have your VE's dialed in. That way you're not chasing two variables at the same time. When I got my initial tune from FM, some of the cells were maxed and the PV adjusted my CI and VE's accordingly (103 to 110). After changing my mufflers, CE's maxed again in a couple of cells and I'm now bumped to 115 and it seems to be enough. Also, where you're hitting 127.5 on your tables are higher than CDE is supposed to influence (>60 KPa), so it won't help to bring those down. In summary, get your VE's dialed in first using the normal sample/correct approach and then once that is done, test the CDE changes to see what impact they have.
I tried this a few months ago https://www.hdforums.com/forum/10448428-post3356.html The easiest way to explain it would be to look for the valleys or troughs in the VE 3D map. If the valley is at 3000 rpms go to the CDE table and increase the number that is at 3000 rpms. You'll have to experiment with it. I went from a value of 42 to 55 and the trough began to disappear. Keep notes on what you changed and how much difference it made. I did one area at a time and was pleased with the results. I ran out of good testing weather and will continue further with it in the spring. I think I read somewhere that it will affect those areas 60kpa and below. When you get to the point that you are visually satisfied that the valley has filled in you can start to smooth if you desire.
I don't know if this is the correct way, but it worked for me. Still waiting for improved documentation.
It will affect beyond 60 kPa but minimally. The intent of messing with the CD tables is to try to affect a smoother running engine at the lower rpm's and loads. That's where the problems usually surface, mostly to the position and lack of depth of the tip of the 02 sensors. Harleys don't really have an optimal location to mount the sensors to work effectively down low. To get the sensors to work nice they'd have to mounted in a position where they'd look like crap...there just isn't much room to work with the bends, frame rails, etc. If someone wasn't that concerned about looks or concealing the sensors they can be mounted to work much better though. I think just getting more of the sensor tip in the exhaust flow would be a nice improvement, not only in dialing in the ve's but overall running when tuning runs are done. It just depends on how far and how close someone really wants to get it dialed in.
Once you get it to where you're happy with the ve's I wouldn't even worry about smoothing the charts appearance. The ECM will just override your changes and put it right back to where the 02 sensors are reporting. If that's what the bike is telling you it likes there's no sense changing it.
On my last AT run I selected "Log Start" to create a log to use with the PV Log Tuner software. I wanted to be able to see hit counts in each of the cells and the cells i missed. In the PV Log Tuner software when I open select "Open Log(s)" it appears it's trying to open the log but only for a brief moment, nothing loads. I've used the Log Tuner without any problems prior to the new AT firmware updates, anyone had this problem or know whats going on?
Never mind, I had a senior moment, forgot to select "Calc Tune".
