I started with LT and then they introduced AT. I never warmed up to AT and still prefer LT as well. I just wish you could use the green hit screen when collecting data without having to go into AT mode.
Thats why i wish they would change the spark tuning in AT. If they just removed the function of pulling 4 degs we could run spark tuning with the green screen.
I know I am just starting to learn but the PV is the ticket for tuning. Will even be better when I get a mount for it where I can have it running all the time.
Last year JustDennis put together a nice, straight forward, easy to understand, document on how to tune using the PV and Log Tuner way back in message #1760. This was published prior to the advent of the autotune and was the way we all generated our new calibrations (tunes). Here's the link https://app.box.com/shared/i66qvn4xf1s2xp7fgy8v
If you don't like the dynojet manuals, this will make things easier for you. Discoveries are made by mistakes......don't be afraid to experiment.
In step 3 of the document, this is the process I use:
From the main screen select Datalog/Gauges. At the lower right corner of the screen I believe it has the option to "Datalog" or "Start Log", select this. When you are done and before you shut the bike off, select End Log or Stop Log (I'm on vacation and am going from memory). This will generate a .csv log file without any of the adjustments that autotune applies. The code of 319245 that is mentioned in this step will bring up the autotune screen.
If you want a log of the autotune process just select start log from the autotune green screen.
Again this file is for info purposes. Read it from beginning to end, and then use it at your own risk.
Great info for me. Thanks!
I set up my PV to data log per the instructions, and will do my first run on the way to work, and a few more after work. I can't wait to compare my current tune to the new tune I'll make from DL. I think my bike runs great now, but we will see if it can get better.

On vacation and you are not on your bike? Thanks for the link as I can use all the help I can.
Cape Cod and Rt 6 is the pits when it comes to traffic. Besides, every time I'm on the bike it's a mini vacation
Why a mini vacation on the bike? Did Alaska on the bike was a little over a month. LOL Any where I go I am on the bike as it is the only way I have to go and is why I have a sidecar on it. All so do to my heath I need some help holding it up. In 44 years of none stop riding about 1/2 was with out a cage. LOL Hope you are having fun. Gods speed.
I have a question I am hoping you all can help me with. I just bought my first HD Fat Boy Lo and will take delivery in a few months when I go home for a quick leave; I am handy with woodworking tools but mechanically retarded. I am in the process of stockpiling parts to have put on so when the bike gets delivered (I wont be home at the time) I can have everything installed all at once.
So here is my question, is the PV2 with FuelMoto map "good enough" to run without any auto tune or further tuning? The reason I ask is after reading hundreds and hundreds of threads on here about the various tuners and even attempting to contact my local dealer, I believe I want to go with the PV2 with the map that FuelMoto provides and call it good because I CANNOT go beyond that myself and I do not trust my local dealer from the answers I have been receiving via email. I am only planning on running V&H 2-2 and a SE Heavy Breather AC, that's it.
I would appreciate your time if you wouldn't mind weighing in and providing me with your thoughts on just the base map of the PV2 or if I need to look at an alternate route; also, can I install the PV2/FuelMoto maps right off the bat or do I need to wait until the 1K mark....hopefully not because I will be home to see the bike and then back over here after about 10-14 days. Thanks in advance for your time.

From my experience with Fuel Moto, you should be fine with a Fuel Moto Stage 1 base map. You could probably improve it slightly with some autotune runs, but the base map will be fine.
There is no need to wait to install the PV. You can install on day 1.

The AT also adjusts the AFR table wholly to 14.6. This is solely for the purposes of tuning the VE tables. When tuning for spark you need to collect data in as many spots in the map as possible BUT without changing ANY aspects of the installed tune. If the green map was added to the data logging process it would be best option. I have petitioned DynoJet multiple times about this and they dont want to listen. They feel it is a step backwards to be using the LT.

I'm very happy with the stock map FuelMoto supplied me. I plan on playing with AutoTune and such just to see how things work but I am totally happy with the performance of their default tune for my config.
