I guess I've had it wrong all along. My understanding was AT Basic retards the timing 4* during the AT session just as a safety margin while you are getting the VE's correct since it sets the AFR's to 14.6. Then it gives back the timing when you flash that tune. Other than this, I didn't think AT Basic had any effect on timing.

Received my power vision today and was wondering if any one makes a mount with a quick disconnect. I have a 02 Ultra. I have a lot to learn. I all ready updated the software.
thanks

NPW....you are correct in your thinking.AT will retard the timing 4 degs during the AT run. Just as you said. Then when you accept the changes and flash to your ECM it put everything back to what they originally were...except.... changes to the VE table, only as long as you leave the default setting as they are. I say this because you can set the AT to adjust timing. The setting is the max spark learn setting. It is set to 0 as a default. Setting the max spark learn to 0 is disabling the spark learn function of AT. I dont like the spark learn on AT automatically retarding the spark table 4 degs from the get go in the AT method. Retarding timing 4 degs....then going to do a spark tune is counter productive. the 4 deg retard will not show some knock events because the 4 degs pu;;ed will stop certain knock event from happening in some areas. If you are going to do some spark tuning i think Log tuner has the right idea. It does not retard your timing. You simple run a log and it uses the data in your log to make changes to the spark based on knock retard events just like NH said.

i did it the hard way...i just ran logs and made manual changes based on my logs knock events.

I think there is a company called tech mount that makes a mount for it as well as Fuelmoto has mounts. Dont know if either one of them is a quick disconnect but its not too much trouble to unbolt the fuel moto one. i got one with my purchase from them. Dynojets web site points you to one and you could call fuelmoto and they can hook ya up.

Crazy...when you pulled the extra 1 deg of timing did you notice a differance> What i meen is did it make the bike sluggish in that range like it was maybe a little too much?

Could someone tell me what values you need to include in the .pvv file to allow Log Tuner to make changes to timing?

Default How to use log tuner

Last year JustDennis put together a nice, straight forward, easy to understand, document on how to tune using the PV and Log Tuner way back in message #1760. This was published prior to the advent of the autotune and was the way we all generated our new calibrations (tunes). Here's the link https://app.box.com/shared/i66qvn4xf1s2xp7fgy8v

If you don't like the dynojet manuals, this will make things easier for you. Discoveries are made by mistakes......don't be afraid to experiment.

In step 3 of the document, this is the process I use:
From the main screen select Datalog/Gauges. At the lower right corner of the screen I believe it has the option to "Datalog" or "Start Log", select this. When you are done and before you shut the bike off, select End Log or Stop Log (I'm on vacation and am going from memory). This will generate a .csv log file without any of the adjustments that autotune applies. The code of 319245 that is mentioned in this step will bring up the autotune screen.

If you want a log of the autotune process just select start log from the autotune green screen.

Again this file is for info purposes. Read it from beginning to end, and then use it at your own risk.

Actually Dynojet offers a quick detach bracket with a visor for the PV. I got one to help see things in bright sunlight. It does help some.
