After the VE's are correct you remove the WB sensors and go back to the narrow band sensors and set your AFR table to what ever you want to run for your build. After your VE tables are correct you can set the VE tables up to whatever you want and the bike will run at what you setup without having to have the WB sensors installed.

Hope this helps

Hi Raccerx67, I need to ask about switching back to the narrow band sensors.

My head pipes do not have the bungs for the narrower band, only the wide band. I have the V & H header pipes with twin slash mufflers.

Bike is a 2012 CVO Ultra Classic with 110 motor and SE intake.

Does it use the wide band sensors after the tuning process?

Does it hurt anything to leave the narrow band sensors unplugged after tuning?

Thanks in advance.....Jim

I can't find anything on what auto general, auto NB or auto WB are used for. I do have the WB module and sensors, so if I was going to use one of them I guess it would be either Auto general or Auto WB. So far I've only been tuning with PV autotune, still working on getting my VE's 2% and under. I've still got some 4-5-6% in high RPM low load cells. Once I get VE's done I want to set my Lambda's to all open loop. I know how to do it but not what values to use in various load/RPM ranges. I want to use 14.2 in the cruise range and then I'm iffy. Once I set Lambda's (AFR's) then I want to work on timing tables. I think Datalogger might be better than autotune for timing tables but can't wrap my head around how to use it. Unfortuneately I'm a walk me thru it side by side a couple times learner. Reading it, interpretting what I've read and implementing it does'nt play well with me. My learning style doesn't work well with the internet a lot of times.
I understand your learning woes. No big deal though as you play around with Log Tuner (LT) it is really pretty straight forward. You will need to save a value file for the map you are going to adjust which should be the map you data logged during your ride. You save those values by putting a check in the box next to the value you are saving and going to the "File" and save selected values. It should put it in the Value files folder you created when you installed the software. You have to name the file when you save it and I just call it "Start". Then you open Log Tuner and using it open the "start" pvv file. Then open all the logs you made while riding using your current map with Log Tuner. Create Tune and save. This puts a new pvv file in the pvv folder, which I name "end". Then exit out of Log tuner and reopen your map you were using to make the Logs and pvv files in WinPV. Go to File and "Load All Values" and select the "End.pvv" file. Then you have to save the new map you just made. I name it "whatever.LT#". In my case they are "BillyV3LT5". That stands for MeVersion3LogTuner#5. That way I can keep up with which version map and which log tuner files I used. I also save my Data Logs in separate folders in the logs folder which I name consecutively to correspond with the new map I will be making, hence folder #5 goes with LT #5. I hope that helps you out some.

Oh and LT will only pull timing out, not put timing in. So if you get the timing pulled to a point where you don't have many knock events or even no knock events, you can go back and add 1* across the board in your timing tables and start over pulling out timing with LT to drop just those cells that don't like the 1+ degree you added while leaving the ones that do like alone. I have not added any to mine as of yet and don't know if I will. My bike is running really good right now and my logs are looking really good as well. I still have some minor Knock events that I am using LT on, but I have saved my maps so if I go too far and start to lose performance I can always back up a couple of steps. I always keep one of the Maps the bike likes in slot 6 as a backup I can switch back to if need be. I try to always put the map I am currently running in slot 1. To do this you have to save the new map you create to that slot and overwrite the map that is in that slot which means if you want to keep that map for later use on the pv itself you have to first get it from the pv slot 1 with winpv, then save it back to the pv in a different slot #6 in my case if it is a good map. Then save to new map I just created using LT back to the pv slot 1. Now I can load slot 1 to the ecm and I will have the map I am going to run in slot 1.......LOL.

Help! Why can I never find the value file I just saved ? I can see exactly where the file is being saved. Open up log tuner, open pvv file, and I can't for the life of me find my file. Thanks, Kranky.

Couple possibilities: 1. You're creating a PVT file by doing File/Save As instead of Save Sselected Values. 2. You're using Windows 7 on a network and you're document files are actually stored somewhere else with that same directory name. I've run into both. Carefully look at the file locations and then look with Explorer to make sure the file is where you think it is.

I had that issue as well, couldn't view/pull up anything saved in the powervision folder that was created when everything was installed. What i ended up doing was creating a PV folder on my desktop to save pvv files and logs in.

I had a chance to experiment with the Charge dilution effects table. The front cylinder was good but the rear needed some work.

*************************************************
This is after the first autotune pass. There is a pretty significant valley/trench right at 3000 rpms. The adjustments were made in the CDE Rear by increasing the 2625 and 3000 areas by 30%.

************************************************** *****
This is after the second pass. You can see how the 3000 rpms area has improved. There is another valley at 2000 rpm that had to be addressed. So back to the CDE Rear table to adjust the 1875 area by 20%. I decided to leave the 3000 area of the map untouched at this point.

************************************************** ******

This was the third pass after the changes. Though it's far from perfect it is starting to take shape. At this point I decided to smooth the various areas to make for smoother transitions in the table. For those areas that I could never hope to tune on the road, it was cut and paste time from the original Fuel Moto map. Those areas were: 90, 95, 100 kpa columns, and the 4000 and greater rpms rows.

************************************************** ******
This is the finished product. I only had a chance to take a quick spin with this map loaded. I was running out of time and the weather decided not to cooperate any longer. I hope to get the chance to get some miles on this tune in the next week to see how it holds up.

Overall the engine seems to run smoother, expecially when trying to fill data in the lower rpm and map ranges. Time will tell.

Does anyone else have any experiences playing with the CDE tables?

Sorry for the lengthy post.

just wondering if you have played with this anymore since this was posted

Thanks, a desktop folder did the trick.

Ok. I am running the power vision on my 12 street glide. I have been making auto tune basic runs. I heard someone say to keep making runs till you get under 5%. Where exactly do i see this percentage. I make 2 runs today and wheni export tune it comes to this screen. It says 1% max- 9%. SHould i keep making runs? Also do i always say yes to the other pic question? I have always said yes.

Since this was posted I have added the SE255 cams and changed my mufflers to 2012 CVOs. The calibration I have autotuned is less then 2% Delta. I spent a lot of time on my timing after getting the VEs dialed in. Though I have a slight valley in the 2750 and 3000 rpm areas the bike runs great with nice manners in the lower map areas. Whack the throttle and there's no hesitation. I have even started out in 2nd gear by accident on occasion with no ill effects, no bucking. I recently returned from a 10 day road trip and the calibration settled in nicely. I chose not to do any smoothing like I did before so that the ECM could do it's thing. I monitored for spark knock and CLI on the trip. CLIs were fantastic and only had one incident of 1.5* knock retard show up in all of 3000 miles.

Today I did something I never do, rode the trike with sneakers and no socks. Heat was not an issue. Don't know if I'm up to riding in shorts.

Long story short, I am so pleased with the way it's running, I don't have need to play with CDE. Besides I don't want to reset my fuel trims.

If you want to play with CDE make your first pass with a 30% increase and observe what changed after a datarun. Personally I no longer see the need to have a visual pleasing to the eye graph. The engine told me what it needs with all the autotuning I did. Seems to be working correctly.

Hope this helps.

Pontiac
Your at 9% changes so keep doing Autotunes. You do want to select YES to the reset trims query every time. You might want to use WINPV on your computer to see where on the VE tables your getting the big % differences so you know what part of the tune to concertrate on during your AT runs.
