On an M8 you do not need anything extra or special . Plug and play.No you do not need any target tune unless you want it. Power vision on my last 5 Touring bikes one on my m8 no issues works fine.

Searched elsewhere on this but couldn't find anything.... Does anyone know if I can change the vehicle speed signal from miles per hour to km per hour?

I've got a Canadian bike but when I want to read speed on the power vision it defaults to miles. Buddy of mine bought a PV not long ago and his reads km so I assume it's possible?

I might have had the WinPV open at first. Now it is closed and the Update Client is still not recognizing the PV2. I have a pop-up that states:

"Please connect your Power Vision to your PC with the provided USB cable to check for necessary firmware updates."

I click OK and another pop-up says:

"No Power Vision connected. Please check any PV's with a batch number below 110201 for a CRITICAL SYSTEM UPGRADE."

Is it possible that WinPV is still running in the background?
were you ever able to resolve this issue? I’m having the same problem

NO ! You're overthinking this . Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is used to calibrate the speedometer. i.e. Number of Pulses per KM. (actually pulses per 1/25 km (if you believe the documentation) but who's counting). VSS is not used to change the display from MPH to KPH.

To change the display from MPH to KPH, one needs to change the "Units". This will change MPH -> KPH. Temperature in Fahrenheit (F) -> Celsius (C). aka ALL units to metric system.

Settings Menu
To Select the "Units"
  • Select Settings > Units
  • Select English or Metric

Hit "Ctrl/Alt/Del" to open Win Task Manager & see if it's running in the background. If it is = end task.

I apologize for the long post. Just trying to provide as much info as possible to reach a solution faster.
I have a power vision to use on my 2010 fxdf, which has rinehart crossback pipes and a S.E. air cleaner. When I bought the bike a month ago, with 11,000Km showing, it had not been tuned for those modifications. pop pop pop and the odd backfire. It had original plugs in it and they showed running lean of course.
I paid fuel moto for a tune license for the power vision. They also supplied a tune for my bike. Dynojet also has a tune on their website for a 2010 dyna with those pipes and filter.
I changed the plugs and tried both of those tunes. The tune from the dynojet site works better, less popping on decel. I actually still had the odd backfire when using the fuel moto tune.
To fix the decel pop I added fuel and spark under quick tune following the instructional video. I went to +8% fuel and +5% spark in decel. It helps but not completely. If I ride the bike hard and then try to cruise back into my hood somewhat quietly like a law abiding citizen, it's pop pop pop....like jiffy pop anytime I'm off the gas. So it's poppy when hot.

I tried auto tune and didn't make out very well. I thought I followed the instructions and got it into that mode.... engine sounded unhappy, barely started, backfiring. I rode it for a bit like that and the cells were populating. I saved the session, didn't export it. It can't be normal for it to run like garbage in auto tune is it? Did I miss a step?

Should I just add more fuel/spark in quick tune and be happy with what I've got?

Plugs are looking ok after 1000Km... picture attached. A little cleaner than I expected but at least not white.

a good starting point for now

when you riding set the gauges on the PV to show you AFR, HT, REVS and MAP - Watch what is going on. If you are at 4500 revs and hit a grade you will see MAP increase, if the bike doesn’t power through richten the AFR for those sells. If you are cruising at those REVs the MAP will be lower, if it runs easy lean up the AFRs in those cells for fuel economy

good thing is you can ride and tune at same time and you learn a lot in the process....

have fun and good luck

REPORTING BACK! Just to update on the comments from david barnby, you were spot on! I have been out on a few rides now and the changes are perfect. I was way too lean. Last ride I only have 2 front knock events in a 3 hour tour! I know they were from throttle blip, so too quickly opening the throttle is the culprit. Bike runs like a scared rabbit! Thanks.

Autotune mode on bikes with factory O2 sensor sets the entire fuel map to 14.6 and backs off the timing 3 degrees everywhere. Not what your bike is going to like for sure. Think of it as a 'diagnostic mode'. While it's in this mode, you aren't going to feel the best ride but the system is reading the O2 sensors and gathering the data it needs to make (or what it thinks should make) normal mode better. Once it gathers enough information and you apply the changes, disable autotune mode and it should go back to feeling normal/better. I'd advise though that you should familiarize yourself with the WinPV interface on the PC and use it to make manual edits as needed. PV will often times (at least with AT Pro) see leanness in the high decel areas as places that need a lot of fuel added and it can often throw off the map a bit by wanting to increase the displacement to compensate. Learning to save maps, download maps and compare maps is useful to see how the tuning process is going. PV is pretty powerful, but some of the algorithms implemented in the AT are possibly limited by the hardware. Could be they traded off some of that capability in order to have the nice user interface.

New to PV, very happy so far. Fuel Moto tune plus an auto tune basic has me running well. Im looking to do datalog runs and utilize the software from Tune My Harley and it states to have certain channels of data...read through some PV docs about creating the csv log file and what channels are available; do all these channels happen by default or do I need to set them? Do I need to enable the gauge for each one as well to enable the channel? Thanks!

pretty sure the needed channels are in the default AT basic channel log options that you select via PV.
