Default Spark knock retard setting

I have some spark knock on my 2010 SG and am watching the spark knock counters front and rear.
I see mostly rear knock but don't see the knock being retarded in the other spark knock counters.
What should the min setting be in the tune file for where is will retard a knock event. I think mine is like 60kpa

i bought the power pkg from fuel moto...came with the preloaded map

is it worth running the auto tune and going thru the process? i think i can do the bike end but not so sure about the computer end....some of the computer stuff escapes me...lol

can you just go in a toggle things..like the high temp idle thing and adj the rev limit without actually doing a new tune or modifying the one in there? i want to raise the rpm and turn of the cyl cutout for the high temp

what year bike? You have an Autotune module or Target Tune module? If no module and the bike has the stock narrow band O2 sensors you can still use Autotune function. Worth doing because what the Autotune function does is measure the AFR in the pipes and compares it to that in the AFR table created by the tuner (person that wrote the tune). It will generate an adjusted VE table (Volume Efficiency) to compensate any differences and this becomes the new tune. Worth doing because the system VE on the bike depends on the intake, cam, and exhaust specific to your set up. This can be guessed at by the tuner based on experience from other bikes but guess never as good as true measurement.

hopefully you have an Autotune or target tune module with wide band sensors fitted so that the job can be done more thoroughly.

yes you can toggle many things directly on the unit but the WinPV app is really about as easy as things can get. Daunting it may seem but install it and try it. Don’t be confused by all the tables. Cut your teeth by just looking at the things you want to toggle.

Against popular opinion, raising the Rev limit for road riding and and turning off the “high temp cyl cut out” would be foolhardy at best. Both functions are there to protect the engine.

Is wonderful to sit in traffic on a hot day and the bike switches off the rear cylinder to produce a cooling air pump for protecting the engine. If this was an aftermarket accessory function it would be highly desirable. There is zero benefit but a lot of risk involved in switching it off IMO

thanks for the info..its a 17..103..stock except the bolt ons..stage 1...stock o2 sensors...i dont have any add on modules so i assume pretty sure i dont have the target tune.....

i would like to try the auto tune tho..i may mess with that....

so i get the high temp cyl cutoff..keeping it..fair enough i understand it i guess...doesnt sem like a good thing tho since unburnt fuel is washing the cyl at low speeds..not usually a good thing so i see it both ways

i want to drag the bike and t feels like its still pulling at 5200 when it hits the rev limiter..thought id go 6000 and see where it seems to fall off...

the winpv is a phone app or pc?

thanks for the input..the pv is got alotta functions.....alot to digest lol

WinPV is a PC program. You should be able to adjust rev limit on the PV module.

for your bike the TT is the module to get if you want to do Wide Band Sensor measurement autotune

Is a good idea to cut your teeth on the PV simple Autotune with stock narrow bands and it will get your AFRs close to the Target MAP you received.

your bike has closed loop tuning but of course can only function in the narrow band the stock O2s measure. The TT module can stay on the bike permanently and close loop every cell with wideband sensors. Most satisfying once set up

win PV is a Windows App. I have dedicated ancient netbook for it. Works great

regarding the high temp cylinder cut out - yours is a common misconception that the spark is cut and the fuel washes the cylinder. NOPE, the cylinder is cut by killing the fuel feed to that cylinder so no such issue (it may be fuel and spark cut but never checked). As my PV always on my handlebars with front and rear AFRs showing on the gauges I wondered why the AFR maxed out on the rear when the bike went lumpy waiting at traffic lights. Bike lumpy because EITMS cut cylinder, AFR maxed because the cut was to the fuel (all air and no fuel)

let us know if you feel you are still developing HP at the higher Revs once you have raised the ceiling (easy to do both ways but suggest you use Win PV so you can keep a record of changes per tune)

cool cool cool..thanks david...i was assuming the bike had one injector in the intake....it has one for each cylinder? that would be the only way to cut one off without washing the cyl....

ive got an elec issue now to work out first...got on it last night and the left rear signal works intermittently and the low fuel range is blnking...ugh..hate electrical..
