is there any way you (or a moderator) could put a very general bulleted list in the first post summarizing M8 issues? Doesn't have to go into high detail
reading through 50+ pages of posts to try to locate them is a bit frustrating!
Do M8s have the same compensator issues like earlier HDs? (am assuming it has an upgraded comp, but still....)
Are they still using the hydraulic cam tensioner setup? or has it gone to gears?
Thought I read somewhere you need to pull the gastank to put in new sparkplugs, that true?
Heard HD went to cheap wheel bearings....that still an issue w/ the newer models?
What are cons to the M8? (big issues everyone knows about)
Just wondering what the big 'fix' will be with that engine in the future. Seems every HD engine has that weakest link (I own TCs currently).
Thanks.
no riskier buying a new Harley than any previous ones..same thing only different in that regard, but the new ones have the added benefit of being improved engines performance wise
While I am installing bars, braided lines etc etc. on the 2018 road glide ultra.
I have ridden it a few miles, love the smoothness and the suspension is definitely an upgrade. There are problems that arise with anything mechanical. However, if you will go back to when the 103 came out, there was these exact conversations going on about how terrible it was etc etc. now you have people saying how it is great had no problems, not going to buy a new because the 103 is proven etc etc. and when the next new engine comes out it will again be the same thing. I may have a problem tomorrow with the 107, who knows. But i have over a combined 100k on 96 and 103 motors and yet to have a major issue. And when they first came out, if you believed all you read you would have thought they where invented by Satan himself. And yes, the more upgrades you do, the hotter you build an engine, the more problems it will incurr. It is mechanical, higher revs, increased pressures, more HP, more Torque, they all come at a price and it isn’t just the cost of the upgrades. Why do you think they rebuild NHRA dragsters after each qtr mile .
I do feel sorry for anyone who EVER has an issue with any new vehicle. But with social media today, unsupported, or blown out of proportion opinions get spread faster then ever. I love my M8 King.

I had a trouble free 17 until I checked the fluids yesterday. Started transferring tranny fluid somewhere around 6300 miles. Thought I had a good one, but nope.

It has been mentioned many times before that a lot of riders "don't know what they don't know" concerning the transmission migration issue. If the tranny is not leaking on the floor most never get checked. And if you rely on a dealer to do your service, they just pull the 3 plugs on the bottom and drain everything without checking the levels before they drop them. So unless you are diligent and check your own fluids you are going to think everything is peachy and "I have no problems". Another falsehood is "If something is wrong the dealer will fix it under warranty". The dealer can't fix it if the manufacturer does not have a fix for it.
