true... my wife already picked up on my "pattern." After all these years she finally realized that I have OCD. There's always something else that catches my eye. In less then 10 years I have purchased a ninja zx6r, ninja zx12r, gsxr 1000 (which was later stolen) gsxr 750 track bike, honda Vt1300 saber (hated that bike) Harley softail breakout, and Triumph Thunderbird 1600, I then traded them in for a Triumph Bonneville T120 and my 17 Harley street glide special. Also picked up a used Harley sportster for my wife who is currently working on her license. (had to do it to keep her quiet..) that about 10 bikes in 10 years. pictures of them are in my gallery.
Heard an interesting tid bit today at my local dealer. One of the new 107 Road Glide Ultra' in the rental fleet is in the shop with an oil leak. Thay evidentially had to split the case to get to it. Didn't say specifically what they found yet.

My 98 road king had a similar situation. Purchased brand new rode it home 28 miles and parked it in the garage while eating a sandwich and come out to install some goodies and there was a 12" diameter oil spill under it. Pinched O ring during assembly. Had to take the whole engine apart to fix but never another issue after.
I picked up my 2017 RGS Stage I on September 22nd and put on 4400 miles by the time winter set in (mid november). Everything is great but 3 issues: 1) bike did not start when I was out for a ride. Turned out the power connection to the solenoid came loose. Gengras HD East Hartford CT was great helping me figure out and fix the issue. Also discovered that you can pop the clutch and start the bike (suggestion by Tow company who did not want to put the bike on the flatbed. 2) One cold morning (29 degrees) took me 15 minutes to start the bike even though it was on a trickle charge all night (Gengras checked it out when I took it in for the 5000 mile service and it appears to be OK) 3) Bike seemed to drink oil after the 1000 service. I will watch that in the future. Put the bike into storage at Gengras until weather gets better in Connecticut. Thinking of getting the Stage II Torque cams upgrade. Currently SE Street Tuner at 82.71 HP and 101.74 Torque. Thinking about DynoVision Power Vision Tuner. Hope to hit 110 Torque. Thoughts??

Nice history on bike ownership. I started with a 2014 Honda 700CTX then a 2015 Yamaha Star 1300. Traded that in for a 2015 HD Switchback then 2016 RGS and now 2017 RGS. Three Harleys in 12 months (17,000 miles during that time). Lucky I do not like the Ultra or CVO! This should be it until the 2018's come out.
This is like reading a novel with no end in sight until after the third week of August. It will be interesting to see how the MO Co has addressed some of the first year teething issues. I truly want to buy one now that it seems they've gotten a grip on the noise, vibration, harshness issues that can really stress one out when riding long hours as I tend to do. I simply do not want to contend with any unforeseen engine issues in the middle of BF (place state name here !). I will simply continue to roll up miles on my '16.

Which issues? I've seen no more than 5 people here post about oil leak issues that were promptly fixed and that's about it. Everything else has been normal stuff that's not specific to the M8 engine. Hell, it can be argued that the reported oiling issues aren't a result of the new engine's design, but rather faulty assembly or parts manufacturing. You make it sound like there's a bunch of problems that HDHQ need to take action to fix. That's definitely not the case.
Someone please point me to some reports of the M8 habitually dropping valves, having issues with the single cam, spinning cranks, etc..... Until then, GTFO with that first year issues BS.
