[QUOTE=FLTRI17;15940898]I live in California and have over 5k on my RG since Sept and can say without reservation the heat from these engines and exhaust is night and day different (cooler) than my TC ever was.
Just my observation

Hey to all, Not sure if the new "cat" flows better or not, but it is just as hot. After removal get a "Heat gun" and measure the difference. I did it side by side with a friend, we went for a ride to coffee. Jumped off my bike got a reading, then went over and measured his, it was 125 degree difference. So again, not sure about flow...But heat loss is fantastic!! Your results may be different. Good luck, CSM-H

Or is it just assumed the removal is worthwhile?
I believe the MOCO worked really hard to get the restriction down as much as possible.
Adding open mufflers to the stock header (with cat) provides a nice tone IMO.

My experience was with a twin cam engine and only a Stage II.... but I believe the effect of the CAT is pretty much the same between TC & M8...

I believe there are very little performance gains, just loss of heat and sound changes......

When I was modding my '12 limited, I got it from the dealer with a Stage II (SE A/C, SE Mufflers, & SE255 cams). I had a cross country trip planned and wanted to keep the warranty intact. It had an HD Stage II tune.

After the trip, and towards the end of the warranty period, I bought a PV tuner from FuelMoto. They sent me the tune for my mufflers & air cleaner (stage II). I told them I would be buying their 2-1-2 head pipe within a couple months, and asked if I should get another tune at that time. FuelMoto told me that when I added their head pipe, I wouldn't need to change the tune, because the CATS flow really well...

When I added the 2-1-2 head pipe, I ran an auto tune and the 1st 20 minute session only had 4% average change.... That is the amount of change they say you should work to, when auto tuning.... so there truly was little difference between CAT and no CAT, in the VE tables....
