New wireless interface module for Boom audio for 2018
Buried in the rollouts last night was a mention of a new Blue Tooth system (add On but comes with CVOs) for the 6.5 Boom Audio. It is now listed on the HD site under audio and electronics. So, does this fill the need others have identified with the previous 6.5 BT interface system? It is $300, but might be better than cobbled together aftermarket solutions, I just don't know that much about the short comings of the previous system.
It's time to cut the cord with your bike. Now available for '14-later Touring and Trike models equipped with Boom! Audio 6.5GT Radios, this Wireless Headset Interface Module (WHIM) lets you communicate with your bike without being wired to it. The WHIM Bluetooth adapter permits wireless connectivity to the 6.5GT Infotainment system, allowing you to communicate via CB radio, hear turn-by-turn GPS directions, listen to your favorite radio stations and so much more all through your BluetoothŽ-enabled headset.
BluetoothŽ wireless technology
Integrated into the 6.5GT Radio
Wireless interface permits full access to the Infotainment features without the hassle of being connected to the bike
Seamlessly use all wired headset functionality (CB, Phone, Intercom, Navigation, Radio) without the compromises of aftermarket systems
Dual headset connectivity - two Bluetooth-enabled headsets can be connected to one WHIM
Module mounts behind the fairing and connects directly to the radio, eliminating external wires and connections to console and Tour-Pak communication port
Harley headsets utilize A2Dp protocol with the AptX codec for superior audio quality when compared to typical headsets utilizing Hands Free Protocol connection
Completely compatible with current H-D wireless headsets and volume can be adjusted from motorcycle hand controls
Looks to be well integrated, backwards compatible to '14 models & requires dealer flash to activate. I guess the existing BT module was too slow to support HSP profile? Pretty elaborate upgrade but it looks to support 2 HSP profiles at the same time.

Says compatible with HD headseats. What about non-HD Bluetooth headsets? I have a SENA 20S something or other. Guys think would work with this or proprietary to HD headset somehow (which would be a ridiculous move IMHO but stranger things have happened)? Looking at the HD headset they look like a re-branded Senas.

Knowing the the HD market I'd say 100% of everything they produce will be proprietary equip only.
Here's a question, what about all the states that don't have helmet laws, HD say's for you to have the ability to answer a call or talk you have to use a helmet with their crap installed. And yet, Iphone and new Samsung phones come with wireless headphones. Nothing for those guys, just for those willing to wear a helmet and but their Chinese junk.
Might as well ride a Goldwing with stuffed animal bungee corded to the back for coolness factor.
