Tried what? A "Lemon Law" case? A class action suit? Does your state have a "Lemon Law"? Did you get an Attorney? Did you take on HD by yourself? Was it for an M8 issue? Was it for sumping? Was it for tranny fluid transfer? Was it for sumping else? More info please.........

One guy on the forum claims to have been successful. Seems like it took about a year, but the MoCo bought the bike back according to his posts.

Reading these posts about sumping issues and trans leaking into the primary one simple question? WHY hasn't a new HD owner sued HD over these flaws?
Mediocrity rules at the MoCo. It may be that customers are becoming used to it and expect nothing more. That would be the most realistic explanation, and totally justified.

Helluva business model they've got there, though. Doin' a half-assed job, at best, is perfectly acceptable and failure is always a viable option. Low expectations to start with results in less disappointment in the end - and it actually works for 'em.

Its been there business model for many years.

Look at the 110 engine. In use for 10 years. Several lifter updates, still having lifter failures. They usually fail at 35K plus miles, some times earlier but not many. So they count on most riders do put 10K a year on the bike. So why worry about lifter failure, its on the customer most the time.

My 15 CVO RGU had lifter failure at 44K miles, five days before the 2 year warranty was up. Cost HD a new engine. How many more failed long after the warranty was up? So the engine was cheaper than fixing the issue.

My 09 CVO RG also had lifter failure at 27K miles.

Exactly why I went with S&S lifters when I did my cam.

And, according to Harley, the average owner rides approximately 2,500 miles per year. So, you're correct, they're pretty safe with their 2 year warranty period.

Since there are countless threads on this issue I did not want to start another, but though it would be good to know if there is any correlation for sumping issues using Dino or Synthetic oil when it happened.

Ditto dat!

I installed S&S Premiums and "Quickie" Adj. push rods about a week after I bought my '15 Limited just to get rid of the junk lifters that came in it and also to silence the constant racket from the valve train along with the clatter at startup.

Couldn't be happier with the results.

There is another thread where they are saying the fix is a baffle, which was removed on the 17+ line up. HD rep said put the baffle in it and it's fixed.

Let me try and find that thread.

Default back to the oil pump saga again..

I realize there are more m8 oil pumps than Rocky Balboa movies but I have a question. I,m doing a cam upgrade (2017 RGU twin cooled) and thought it wise to put in the latest & greatest oil pump....The part manager here has been around a while and I "sort of trust" what he says. I ordered the pump and the part number on the box is 62400182. The casting # on the pump is 62400180....The date on the box is 1-10-2018...He says that is the newest version. Maybe Steve Cole or someone else who is keeping up with this can shed some light. Thanks in advance. Max

Default Oil pump saga

Perhaps I should have mentioned I have had no sumping issues with this bike so far. Compression and leak down test are good. And while I do have and follow the service manual recomendations I seem to recall reading about an updated installation procedure bulletin or something reguarding pump install. Maybe someone has a link or something? Thanks Max
