somebody please point out to me in the video below where a full size shop rag could go that the motor would run for more than 30 seconds with a rag inside it. I don't think I'm following the OP
Unless Ray Charles put it together I just don't see how a "tech" would have missed a shop rag in the case bore when he was setting the cylinder. I mean it will only fall in so far and rest on top of the flywheel. seams like you would have to push it down any farther than that. Just when you think you've seen it all.
Ok since nobody will say it,I will be the villain, As I asked before please give us the shop Managers name and Number. I will be more than happy to call, Because this shop either way, needs a chance to clear this up.No way can a tech start this motor after the build and check it and it not blow up at the shop.
Why do I have a vision of the tech out back shooting the crap while a lot tech or detail tech puts an engine back together. Of course we know that would never happen. I think some good advice has been floated here. That said if the dealership owner even acts weird, distracted or like he/she does not give a crap... or does not offer to keep refilling your coffee I would head to an attorney and make their life miserable. Many have free consultations and even a letter from one to the dealership and Harley may be helpful. I mean its not like they forgot to tighten a spark plug. No way in the world I would take that particular one back....make them eat it. After all they will resell it anyway.....just my opinion.

From what I've seen and heard about H-D "techs", it's a wonder that stuff like this doesn't happen every day - THAT'S what's really unusual.
If there's any possible way to **** up a job, they'll find it. It's the one and only thing that they're actually consistent at doing reliably.

It's to bad the the young inexperienced HD techs give them all a bad rep. I know quit a few really talented HD techs. But yes, I also know of and heard of quit a few that have no business owning a wrench.
how can I make them if they dont want to? They have said no to the new engine and Milwaukee said it was up to dealer since it was human error. I think a lawyer will probably cost as much as a new engine
Maybe you dont need a lawyer. New Engine might fall under the cost for Small Claims
So it didnt sound weird at first start or bog down on the dyno? Dealer test rode for 10 miles and all was good? Sounds like they bolt the kit on and skipped the dyno and test ride
