Come on man, read some of the other threads on this subject first. But so you are aware, you are correct the 3 holes for oil (sump, trans, and primary) should indeed be separate. But in some instances the trans is transferring to the primary, this is completely separate of the sumping issue.
The sump in most engines is at the bottom of the engine, and is more commonly known as the "oil pan". In some cars and motorcycles, such as ours, we have what is called a dry sump, which in a nutshell means the "oil pan" is relocated elsewhere than the bottom of the engine; among other things allowing the engine to sit lower to the ground to keep the center of gravity lower and more favorable. There are other benefits FYI, but in a nutshell the bottom of the engine is kept clear of excess oil by the oil pump that pushes the oil to the oil tank, at the same time as it pulls oil from the tank to give to the rest of the engine. In the cases where these bikes "sump" it means for whatever reason the oil is pooling in the bottom of the crankcase where there is not enough space for it to be pooled up without being in the way. Therefor it is getting hot and frothy from the crank whipping around and is causing interference, robbing power, and causing damage. There is more to it but that is the down and dirty.
Again, thank you. The last two posts were all I need. I, infact never heard of the issue until I seen it HERE. ALOT of talk, but not really a description of what's going on (the ones I seen) thank you. Thread closed!!!! Please!!! Damn......
Where did you get that quote? That he is selling his perfectly good M8 because of stuff he reads on the internet?
Well y’know man, I thought he was joking, but I’ve just returned from a traumatic morning ride on my M8 FLHR, way out through the back block country roads when the fear overcame me........ will this be the day my bike grenades and/or my transmission explodes lol.......just like Kautionstroke warned???
......Nah, not really, it’s just a forum......
Somewhat unremarkably, I made it home - with a smile on my face.......hope that can transfer (no pun intended) to some of the poor sods here lol.
Take it easy folks......enjoy life, it’s too short to worry all the time......32K of fun my end, best bike I’ve owned by far.

No rebuttals needed be glad that a used M8 will be posted for sale soon for those looking to get one.
Hey Kaution321, the offer I made you the other day still stands. Rather than letting your bike go cheap, I'll trade you my 2015 RGS 117" with a Baker DD7 for your 2019 straight across. You don't get the paint set though. I've got $8000 tied up in that. You can have the stock paint set that came with the bike or you can keep the paint set that is on your 2019. I'll even throw in a set of Bassani DNT's. Here's a dyno sheet on the 2015.

Damn, I am stoked that you were able to make it home.
Some of the people here should NOT own a touring bike. They should take their cars because, well , they never breakdown.

I'll be posting mines to test the demand for a used M8. You got a lot of talkers on this thread so hoping that translates to buyers. PM sent regarding your trade offer...
