I purchased an OEM de-catted head pipe on EBAY, then re-installed the S&S MK45 slip ons I had on before. The sound is now definitely much better. Not loud but very throaty with a very healthy rumble upon accel and decel.
Also decatted a few and used fullsac baffles in cvo cans only....bikes ran fine and are still doing good. 2 even slid thru warranty never to be found. ( we cut along stock factory weld.remove and port re tig weld on factory seam looks factory)Plugs look good and less heat on passenger. All on touring head pipes. Sound ? Not much different .....performance? Not real noticeable.....big deal is heat.

So you're basically still running the 2-1-2 just minus the cat right? At first I thought you were asking about true duals and a straight 2-2 system. I can't imagine not needing a tune for that if for no other reason than to not lose a ton of low end.

Hey, Im running the same setup. Im curious did you do the dB reducers in or out? Both sound okay, theres a pretty noticeable blatty sound on decel and accel. Thanks!
Dyno results tell us there isn't any performance gains by decatting a M8. So why?
As previously mentioned HEAT...
I replaced mine at 2 years with the SuperTrapp Unfiltered Header and the heat is about gone from the exhaust and the bike has more bark under hard throttle.
I ride.. A LOT and the reduced heat, especially in traffic is so much more comfortable. No different then changing the seat for comfort.
