Just wanted to let everyone know that Head trip will give a 10% discount if you mention HDforums when you order. Its not much but as high as their helmets are it would add up.
I received mine a few days ago, and am very impressed with the size and weight. The quality seemed to be great but I order it to small, even for my bean head. I call their customer service and was told to ship it back and they would have a replacement sent out the same day. I'll let you know how that turns out.
I just got my carbon fiber helmet on Sunday at a local bike show. A vendor was selling them and after hearing about them, I tried a few on and ended up getting a candy-blue (non DOT) helmet.
A few comments: the helmet is everything they say... very light, very comfortable, and fits real well. However, when I measured my head based on the criteria on the carbonfiber helmet website, my measurements indicated a medium-large. The helmet that actually fit me was a large - xlarge! The medium-large was a bit too tight and uncomfortable.
So just make sure you get a helmet that fits comfortably.
Also the "non-DOT" helmet has an ensolite "shock-absorbing" liner - not just a comfort pad. I have read that the non-DOT carbon fiber helmets actually pass the DOT tests. I can see why... the helmet is of very good quality inside and out.
Oh, and I paid $115 for my helmet. I know I could have gotten in cheaper via the group purchase, but I have the helmet now w/o the three + week wait!
I rode the 200 miles to Orlando today and picked one up. Thanks for the tip on the 10% forum discount. Also 10% for walking in. Love the helmet. Beautiful weather, nice ride.
I have to echo the other comments about ACC helmets. It took a while to get it...ordered right before Sturgis last year, but it was worth the wait. Great looking, great quality, fine workmanship. (mine was a non-dot headtrip).
