This afternoon I went for a Good Friday Rideday ride. I never stopped, I just rode. I've had a lot on my mind lately so I just found myself in the groove, with my mind clear, enjoying the ride, despite the winds, which were a bit too heavy and a bit too cold for my liking, but I made the best of if and avoided roads that left me exposed to cross winds as much as possible. Tomorrow is supposed to be nicer, warmer even. I can live with the winds, if they aren't quite as cold, but I'd like to see less wind tomorrow.
I got the Night Rod out today. I only had a few hours to enjoy it, but enjoy it I did. The Night Rod fired right up. After I checked the air pressure it was time to ride.
The Night Rod started the year with 20,094 miles on the odometer.
Got me in an after work, after dinner ride. I did a Rock River loop, Dixon to Rockford, then home. It was a nice sunset ride. The temp dropped 10 degrees, from 55-45, during the ride.
I did stop in Oregon to check out the pelicans, which make a stop in the area every year. They usually hang around for few weeks, then they're gone.
Yesterday's Friday Rideday was a success. I headed up into Wisconsin and wandered around until I got up to just south of Prairie du Chien, which was my first stop, four hours and 190 miles into the day. From there I wandered back home, taking a few roads I have never traveled....which is getting really hard to do. I was gone for just over 9 hours, 9:55am-7:22pm. I won't bother posting all the pics, since I can no longer imbed them into the post, for whatever reason, instead I'll just share a link: Click Here!!
Slept in, lounged around, and the sun finally came out. The rain the were calling for didn't arrive, so I went out for a ride. As luck would have it, as soon as I started to gear up, the sun vanished, clouds rolled in, and a bit of a chill filled the air, despite the temp being in the mid 50's. I was home in time for dinner, so I was only gone for a little over 3 hours. Next week looks to be a better ride day, if the weather predictors are correct.
Had a nice sunny day yesterday, so I headed out towards Iowa. By the time I got to the Mississippi River, there were clouds looming on the horizon. I had planned on heading into Iowa, on 136 for a couple of hours, but those plans changed. I decided to stop in Clinton, at KFC, as I haven't had that in a long time, and they had walk in service. I did have to eat outside though. After my lunch I headed back into Illinois, and up to Savanna. From Savanna I headed home. The temp felt like it fell 20 degrees. Needless to say, my day was cut way short. I wasn't even out half the amount of time I had planned. So much for trusting the weather people. It still beat sitting at home.
