Just looking for input, thanks in advance! I have the option of free lodging southwest of Nashville in Linden. We are coming from NJ. The question is if it's worth the hump and time investment to get to Linden either by bike or trailer. Is there enough to see down there to warrant the trip? We would be interested in 3 day trips from that location in the 200-300 mile range.
In my worthless opinion...OH YEAH!! Fall Creek Falls State Park, one of a lot of sights across southern TN. Lots of history, which I love. Or you are an easy day ride, 5, 6 hours, from Smokies area, here in AR or southern MO, North GA or Alabama, all great areas. Lots of great choices. Probably a lot more specific destinations on the way, but Linden is in and close to lot of hilly, rocky topography areas with natural beauty and plenty of spots to visit. How long will you be at that hub?
Natchez Trace - go north and stop in downtown Franklin, TN
Shiloh National Military Park if you're into Civil War history
Land Between the Lakes
Bufurd Pusser Home and Museum in Adamsville, TN
Muscle Shoals, AL if you're into music.
Jack Daniels in Lynchburg, TN
Many fine national parks, historic sites as well as restaurants. I love going to the Gatlinburg/ Sevierville area been there last 3 years in a row. Nashville has many great bars with live music. Memphis is only 2-3 hours away. Both have many museums of all types.
I took that trip 2 years ago (had to take the F150 with business stuff in the bed) and the ride and visit was spectacular. Wish I could have taken the bike and a couple of weeks off to enjoy. Do it if you can!
We stayed at the Commodore Hotel a few years ago (its an older restored hotel that was very nice). At the time, they had a great chef and we got a splendid meal.
Hwy 13 to Waynesboro is a great little road to ride on motorcycle. Of course your not far from the Natchez Trace and can easily do Nashville or Tupelo and beyond.
We spent a good morning at Shiloh Battlefield and really enjoyed riding around it.

When you ask an economics question -- is it worth it? -- the correct answer depends on your opportunity cost. What will you do if you don't go to Linden? Only when you have answered that question can you really know if the free lodging in Linden is worth it.
If the alternative is stay home and do yard work -- it's worth it.
If the alternative is ride to Robbinsville, NC for three days of riding but you have to pay for your room -- less worth it.
