Trailor Beach was very crowded. This was the first time my son and I had ever been. Are there always that many trailors? We had a good time. Friday night was gridlock. Tent camped Friday night at the Racoon River and stay on the strip Saturday night. Sat in front of the motel and watched the parade. Had a great time/ride and got a good deal on a decent room. $88.00 for Saturday night.
LDB187, we tented it at Racoon River also. I thought the campground was nice enough, but tent camping in the middle of the madness during a bike rally was a mistake. We were right next to the main road in the campground near the back pool and bikes were rolling in/out til the wee hours and at the crack of dawn. We stayed out way too late and woke up way too early. I too was surprised by all the trailers. I hate to judge people without knowing their circumstances, but I saw tons of Goldwings, trikes, and full dressers on trailers, and many with Florida and Alabama plates. WTF? Does not anyone ride to rallies anymore? I want to get one of those t-shirts that says I rode my bike to the trailer rally.

I don't know where you have stayed, but I think you can get a room in Panama City (not Panama Beach City) for about $55/day as I were there for 2 nights.

It has taken me almost 9 hours from my house (S. FL) to the rally, and I have been riding across the country (FL-CA-FL) every year (about 10000 miles trip), and I have seen many people trailer their bike, even for less than 500 miles. Even so, it doesn't bother me at all!
I just imagine that the guy, or gal may have a back problem, or some kind of physical issue that he/she cannot sit on the bike for some extended of hours. I think everyone has his/her own personal issues, so it may be the case. I am sure they all love to ride, but some enjoy a longer ride than the others, as you and I.
Seen a lot of crazy trailers even with pictures of the guy ridding his SG from behind on the rear. I know one guy that brought his whole family down and it was real hard from him to rent a trailer but it made more sense then following each other for seven hours. The thing that is funny is the trailer guys have the best costumes and bad @ss biker snarls.
The coolest thing I saw was Saturday night in front of Sharky's. A guy had a small trailer that it appeared he had trailered his bike on. Then he turned around and hooked the trailer to his bike and was hauling 3 women on it with a big sign that said Larry's crazy b*tches or something like that. Thought that was pretty funny. I wonder if the cops gave him any chit about hauling people on a trailer with his bike.

I understand what you're talking about. I admit I own an enclosed trailer and I have trailered my custom bike to rallies before. But now that gas prices are so high it costs me way too much to pull that trailer loaded with my bike and my wife's trike. I just thank God I have my SG to ride or we couldn't afford to go to any rallies at all. I know there are some people who have health problems or families or whatever, but damn, not that many.
We were there and had a great time.
This was my first motorcycle event.
I am new back into riding after many years and riding from Atlanta to PCB is beyond my comfort / ability right now. I trailered the bike down to Ozark, AL and then rode my bike along with my step-son and his wife (on their own bikes) the rest of the way. My wife followed in the truck with the grand kids and all the luggage. We did the same thing in reverse coming home on Sunday.
It was a great trip and I hope to be able to do it again soon.

You are cool bro!
I have to say that I have been surprised with the police around and the host city of the rally; they don't bother, and/or give people hard time at all.
So far, IMHO, Panama Beach city is one of the best cities for a motorcycle rally. Nice beach, nice people, nice roads, MANY bikes, nothing is better than that. Especially, bikers are really welcome from people, both local residents and businesses.
I will not let the distance stopping from coming back, who knows I may be back in October for the fall rally.
