Default Cross Country

I'm planning on leaving Horseheads, NY for the Sacramento area in California next weekend (labor Day). I would like to do a little sight seeing along the way and have alotted 7 to 10 days for the trip. I do want to include Deals Gap, GA. the tail of the dragon on the way. I will be staying in KOA camp grounds unless the weather is rather ugly. My ride is a 2006 Ultra. I'm 75 and have been riding Harleys since 1955 so I'm no new comer to riding long days but have never been coast to coast before. Any input, tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone who replys to this post. Ralph

Blue Ridge Pkwy/Cherohala Skyway are just awesome. Pretty much all the roads around that area are good.

Advice would be to hit that area during the week. Gets pretty busy on the weekends.

Good Luck with your trip and enjoy!!

That's a heck of a ride for a 75 year old, I'm very impressed. Hope your trip goes well.

PS If you're camping, bring along a good air mattress!!!!!

It's 5 days one way coast to coast on the interstates by car.

Bikes take more time then by car.
You want to leave NY and ride to Georgia before you go to California.

I don't see how you will make this trip on a bike in 7 to 10 days you plan on doing the trip unless you mean that you can take 7 to 10 days both ways for up to 20 days on the road.

I have crossed the country (FL-CA-FL) every year, in the last 15 years, so I hope you have a plan of 7 - 10 days to ride from NY to Sacramento (at least). Unless, you can ride more than 700 miles a day, every day.
Good luck!
