Issaqueena Falls and Stump House Mountain Tunnel. The tunnel was dug for the Railroad. The middle 1800's, they used hand drills, sledgehammers and Black powder. They could dig 200 feet a month. Digging 6 days a week around the clock! the War of Northern Aggression halted the project and it never got completed due to MONEY!

Nice pics Rah, anywhere near Helen Ga? We love it there.
This no big deal but when I get bored I'll take a loop fromLake Glenville near Cashiers, NC to Franklin, south on 441 to Clayton Ga and then on to Helen or Haiwassee Ga. Nice mountain roads. Then I'll change it up and take Warwomen Rd from Clayton Ga north to Hwy 28 in NC and on to Highlands,NC and on to Cashiers on 64 and home or take the curves on Norton Rd,Yellow Mtn etc. Sometimes I'll head to Sylva, NC down 107 or over Cullowhee Mtn Rd and on toWaynesville, NC via 23/74 and back to Sylva with a stop for a beer and a burger at O'Malleys Irish Pub then back over the mountain and home. There is great riding in Western NC and North Georgia.
