2014 C. V. O. Road king
I just picked up my new CVO just over a month ago. I traded my 2011 CVO Road Glide Ultra to get it. I owned a 2010 Road King before the FLTRUSE.
I'm very happy with the new CVO Road King is an amazing ride. I'm not sure how the suspension has changed on the 2014 standard models but as far as the CVO goes it is stiffer than the 2010 and 2011 models but I feel that's a good thing. No more worrying about air pressure in the rear shocks and no more nose dives at stops. Speaking of the brakes - they are fantastic - brace yourself in a hard stop, you may end up sitting on the gas tank...
I first experienced the vented wind screen demo-ing a 2013 FLHRSE5. IMO that has to one of the best things HD has come out with in years. Close the vent - get pummeled - open the vent so that you can look right through the opening and relax, no more buffeting.
Best thing to do is find out when the Harley Demo rig is coming to an event near you and get out and try'em.
I have a question for the other 2014 CVO owners. I've had two CVOs prior to this one - a 2008 FXSTSSE2 and a 2011 FLTRUSE and both had the nice (heavier) chrome metal transmission side cover with a bleeder on it. Two things I've noticed on my new 2014 FLHRSE6 - first, the transmission side cover is chrome where from all the pics I've seen on Harley's site and on this forum of the new CVO Road King show a black cover. Second, I noticed there was no bleeder installed on the cover.
Tapping on that cover made a tinny sound, not a solid metal sound like on the older bikes. It turns out it's just a tin cover (just two of the side cover bolts hold it in place) that covers the real unfinished cover with the bleeder on it.
I see the other covers are black but I can't tell if there is a bleeder in place on them. Can you guys let me know if you have the same type of thin cover in place with no bleeder showing?

That is Wolverine HD in Clinton Twp, MI @ M-59 and Gratiot. It is my favorite HD dealership and fortunately it is right around the corner from my house. They do have a Orange and Black CVO RK there if you want to see one in person - Tell Rachel or Jon that "Ryan sent me" and mention my recent CVO purchase. They are great people and will take care of you without being pushy in any way.

I wasn't too keen on the 12 & 13 CVO RKs because of the lower fairings...I just plain don't like fairings, but I detest lowers. It's great having a sound system, but not worth putting up with lower fairings.
Paint jobs on 12 & 13s were ok but none really grabbed me.
But the 14? OH yea, the "sandstone" one definitely grabbed my attention like a naked redhead babe holding a bottle of Captain Morgan in one hand and fuzzy handcuffs in the other.

Except for the windshield.
I've not ridden with it on at all yet, even though it's cold.....because it's the UGLIEST windshield I've ever seen.
Might give it a shot this weekend though, just to see how effective it is.
I've a set of new bars on order...hope to have them soon.
I wanted to get 12-inch Yaffe Monkey OEMs, but since those would require the expense of the wire extenders & new brake/clutch lines.....so I decided to go with 10" like I had on my SG.
They have a 2013 RK with the 10" Monkeys on it, and they felt just fine so I'll be happy sacrificing the 2 inches for not having to pay 4 times as much.
And after Cobra comes out with an Fi2000 tuner for the 14's, time for new pipes! It sucks having a quieter bike than my wife's! And she won't let me swap them, even temporarily.

Page 71 in the owners manual - open the vent so that you are looking at the edge of the blade while in normal riding position. Works for me - keeps the main blast off your chest and stops the buffeting on the head. I'm 5-10, maybe rider height has something to do with it, I don't know.
I do know unless it was below 50 degrees I never rode with the windshield on my 2010 RK...what a buzz in the head! Went with a mid size Klock Werks on my 2011 FLTRUSE since that stock shield was about as bad as the Road Kings. The KW was much better but still didn't completely eliminate the head buzz. I'm good with the shield on the new RK.
Anyway, Let us know how your new bars go on. The stockers on the new CVO king seem just a bit low. I'm considering the mini-apes but I really don't want to have to deal with swapping out the clutch and brake lines (not at this point anyway). I've been checking out the Wild Ones bars that some of the guys on the CVO forum have used they seem to be good bars at a decent price.
Good luck and enjoy your ride this weekend...it's supposed to be in the mid 30s here
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I'll give it full credit for functionality at least! I'll probably use it when I know I'll be doing overnight trips.
Bars are on order, hopefully will have them by next weekend.
And yes, that's my complaint with the stock bars....WAY to low.
I also don't like pull-backs, where the grips are at like a 45 degree angle back. I know they won't, but it always feels like my hands are about to slide right off.
I like the grips straight sideways. On the SG, the 10" Yaffe Monkeybars were just prefect for me.
