Default 72 FX Wheel options

I would like to replace the spoked wheels on the 72 with some later cast wheels.

I have a drum rear brake so is that 1 strike against any rear wheel upgrade?

The front end is from a later model FX with dual discs.

Any and all recommendations gladly accepted.

You have a 72fx? If so you have a round swingarm, you can put a Mag with disc brake, your going to lose your juice drum....that way

Front won't be an issue with the right mag but the rear you will need to swap to the 73 and later swingarm to accommodate a disc brake setup.

Thanks for the photos, some good things there to kick around. The top left photo looks easily doable. but how do you mount the spring pad they sold back in the day to kkep the banana caliper from falling onto the rotor when the mounting pins wore out?

The bottom center photo is awesome with the late model dual disc mounted to the cast swingarm. Good combination of new meets old.

If you have to buy a disc setup your better off with a newer style the springy thingy is not gonna work like that, but the brake still works though...the first pic has an 81-82 caliper with a 73-80 bracket abortion, but with that style caliper with the big whole on the rear of it, they sell a Y aftermarket bracket for that...the second pic is 83-84 Shovel, the last is twin cam softail...So buy what looks good to you then you just have to space it and weld a tab...
