I try not to pick a part bikes unless they're real pieces of crap.. If they look respectable I try to keep it that way..

Maybe John knows what it is. But that was really it, like I said an afternoon worth of work if you spent the time to find the parts first. The owner believed the bike only had 600 miles on it, I think his later speedometer only had 600 miles on it!! The bike was super clean, but had been ridden a few miles more then 600 since 1971. But it really was a nice bike.

Just be picking for educational purposes.

PS I am going to reluctantly disagree with John about the AMF sticker. My research tells me that in 1971 the stickers were distributed to the dealerships, the dealership made the decision to apply it to the tank. 1972 they came from the factory with the sticker. This is my story.
The picking is definitely for educational purposes only....no disrespect . If the bike was on the forum, I would not have asked. It would be up to the owner to ask and find out (if he/she dare lol).....some just don't take constructive criticism very well..

WOW. That’s nice....should be simple for a judge ....you don’t know or don’t have concrete evidence.....done no points takin. Move on too, what you do know....that’s what pisses me off judging.

they took points off for a faded marble look on the starter button - the vinyl on the seat was from the wrong period of history it was too new in years as in the fabric - the speedo it has a perfect OEM original face number plate but the pointer was changed and the mech was restored -- it scored 98.7 and it has 60,000 miles

If it wasn't for scrupulous Judging... any numb nuts could slap together a "bike in a box" and compete... I'm good with Judging..
Tho I'm not likely to own anything that would score very well... If it was perfect, I would drop it in the yard on the way in!!!!!

Crap that’s a big *** score...with 60 k on it? Wouldn’t be disappointed in that. Like others I never paid attention in my younger years on the originality.....so kinda lost .....give me a pile of parts I will make it work....but not factory. Tend to be impatient and just make a part......bites me in a SS now and than. But I am just and amateur.....
