FLH Project Consideration
True that, OP there's two schools on the old bikes, some are purists and others are the custom yeah this work kinda person. I respect all but I fall in the last category. Limit is you imagination and skill, run with what does it for you.
I am keen to get this bike going, but the slow part is yet to come.
There will be plenty of Q's I will ask as this bike moves along... I just ran into Pacific Mike youtube's, pretty informational for me.
As TwiZted Biker eyeballed, it looks like I have over length fork tubes. He thinks 4"...(I tend to agree) I will find out when the front end all comes apart.
I compressed my forks 2" an it looks much more right, no doubt. As seen here.
I looked up the 'Gun sight' tank emblems... Usually a bolt on or stick on?? '61 or '62 years.
Mine seem to be painted or decals & oversized. I have not run into this size of tank emblem. Original or later year? Or just a generic gun sight logo added to these tanks.
Thoughts?
I think they look good, but don't know if they are any particular year.
Anyway, going over my various assemblies and also trying to put together a look for the bike thats not too mixed up.

My 86 sportster 883 came with bars that look to be where you want them. They are probably too narrow for a big twin though. I am lucky that one of the local dealers has a parts manager who knows what he is selling and can give good advice. Maybe you can ask yours, they might enjoy the challenge.
